Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research can trace its origins to the Ecole de Medicine de Pondicherry established by the French Government in 1823. In 1956 foundation for new medical college was laid and in 1964, hospital was inaugurated. JIPMER became an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India in the year 2008. It is an institution established for teaching, research and patient care in the area of health. JIPMER spreads over 192 acres.

Post : Project Associate-I (1 post)

Applications are invited from eligible candidates to work on the following post(s) on a contract basis in a research project funded by an external agency at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, as per the details below.

Likely duration : Two years
Consolidated remuneration : Rs 33,790 per month (Consolidated including 12% HRA)
Project title : Preeclampsia and role of metformin in reducing its incidence and severity of complications (PROMISE Trial) – Placebo controlled Randomized Clinical Trial
Funding Agency : Grant-in-aid (GIA) Scheme- Department of Health Research

Eligibility criteria (Qualifications and experience)
A. Essential : 1. Female candidate as the job requires working closely with pregnant women
2. Master in Public health, Pharmacology, any science discipline, Biochemistry, Nursing in Obstetrics and Gynecology or other relevant areas from a recognized University with 1 year Research experience
3. Good command of Tamil and English - Reading, speaking & writing, preferably Tamil typing
4. Experience working with medical records and quantitative research in a hospital
B. Desirable : 1. Skill in handling Microsoft office, excel, electronic data capture, emails, web conferencing, other relevant internet tools for research 2. Publications in indexed journals
C. Maximum Age Limit : (…30….) years (as on last date of receipt of applications)

Nature of work / responsibilities and expectations
1. Collect information about patients admitted with preeclampsia, take their consent and recruit into the trial
2. Drug monitoring, blood sampling and storage, co-ordination of lab work, data collection, record keeping, data entry and project report writing
3. To follow up all the babies born of these mothers
4. To contact the above-mentioned people after six weeks to get information as per the proforma
5. Postnatal blood sampling of the recruited patient may be required on Sundays and holidays too
6. Executing finance and related administrative tasks of the project

Terms and Conditions
1. This position is purely on contract basis for an externally sponsored project, and the person engaged will have no claim to any regular post in JIPMER at any time. Further, the position is only for the duration of the project and based purely on external funding support for the project.
2. The engagement may be extended or curtailed at discretion of the Project Investigator.
3. Qualification and experience should be in a relevant discipline/field and in a reputed institution/organization. The experience should have been gained after acquiring the essential qualification.
4. Qualification, experience, other terms, and conditions may be relaxed/ altered at the discretion of the Principal Investigator.
5. Valid email ID and mobile number are compulsory.
6. Consolidated salary of the post may vary from time to time. No other allowance/facilities other than consolidated salary shall be extended.
7. Submission of wrong or false information at any stage during the process of selection or canvassing of any kind will lead to disqualification or even termination if detected after the person has been engaged.
8. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and/or interview. Decision of the Project Investigator will be final. If the number of applications is very large, more stringent criteria than those specified above may be used to determine eligibility.
9. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
10. Incomplete applications and applications that are not in the prescribed format and those not fulfilling the essential criteria above are likely to be summarily rejected. Evaluation Criteria : After the evaluation of the application form, the recruitment process will be as follows :

b. Interview (areas which will be covered) - biostatistics, Analytical, logical reasoning, clinical research and analysis, administering of the consent and preeclampsia-related knowledge.

Interviews for the post may be conducted in person at the discretion of the Principal Investigator. In the latter case, it will be the individual candidate’s responsibility to ensure access to a suitable device (computer/ laptop/ mobile) with audio and camera facilities, and an adequate internet connection.
