The PGIMER owes its inception to the vision of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and the distinguished medical educationists of the then combined state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who considered the institutions of scientific knowledge as temples of learning and the places of pilgrimage.

Eligibility Criteria
Qualification: Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate/Postgraduate Degree in professional course selected through a process described through any of the following:
A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests - CSIR-UGC, NET. including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
B. The Selection process through national level examinations conducted by Central Government Department and their Agencies and Institution such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT

Pay Scale : As per SERB rules
