Post : Manager Adjudication Services (Drug Safety)

Job Description
• Responsible for the line management and staff development of assigned individuals operating within the Adjudication Services department. This includes, but is not limited to:
o Participating in candidate evaluation, interview and hiring processes
o Ensuring staff training records are up to date
o Providing coaching and mentoring to promote staff development
o Setting annual performance goals
o Conducting performance reviews
o Administering salary changes, bonus payouts and promotions
o Addressing any staff performance issues and taking appropriate corrective action
o Managing any human resource issues
• Responsible for the assignment of staff to meet Adjudication Services project resourcing needs. This includes, but is not limited to: Ongoing assessment of adequacy of existing project resourcing, in light of project phase and deliverables. Making changes to staff assignments as appropriate. Ongoing identification of exposure, professional growth and mentoring opportunities which are achievable through project resourcing strategies and taking appropriate action.
• Promotion of collaborative team approach within matrix environment to achieve deliverables and department objectives.
• Ongoing review of staff allocation to projects compared to new project resourcing needs. Making staff assignments as appropriate.
• Responsible for operational oversight of staff in the performance of their responsibilities on Adjudication Services projects, This includes, but is not limited to:
• For Assistants and Coordinators:
• Monitoring execution by direct reports of assigned project tasks and adherence to relevant SOPs and Adjudication Services Operational Plan(s).
• Conducting routine quality reviews and process reviews with direct reports. Identifying potential efficiencies and process improvements for implementation.
• Reviewing status reports and metrics to assess project progress and quality. Soliciting ongoing performance feedback on direct reports from relevant stakeholders.
• Based on information gathering, taking appropriate action to commend performance and/or address any potential issues or gaps.
• For Project Leads:
• Monitoring execution by direct reports of assigned project tasks and adherence to relevant SOPs and Adjudication Services Operational Plan(s).
• Conducting routine quality reviews and process reviews with direct repolts. Identifying potential efficiencies and process improvements for implementation.
• Reviewing status reports and metrics to assess project progress and quality.
• Reviewing project financial data to assess project profitability.
• Soliciting ongoing performance feedback on direct reports from relevant stakeholders.
• Assessing effective application by direct reports of soft skills to project leadership and customer management on assigned projects.
• Reviewing customer feedback and customer satisfaction data pertaining to direct reports' project leadership of assigned projects.
• Soliciting ongoing performance feedback on direct reports from relevant stakeholders.

Candidate Profile
• BS/BA Degree + 6 years relevant experience* * (or 6 years adjudication experience*), including 4 years of team leadership experience* ** (preferred) and at least 2 years of line management experience
• MS/MA Degree + 5 years relevant experience (or 5 years adjudication experience), including 4 years of team leadership experience (preferred) and at least 2 years of line management experience
• R_N + 5 years relevant experience (or 5 years adjudication experience), including 4 years of team leadership experience (preferred) and at least 2 years of line management experience
• Degree preferred (but not necessary) to be in one or more of the following disciplines: Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, Life Sciences, and Chemistry.
• Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
• Strong ability to assess staff performance and put effective strategies in place to enhance existing strengths and fill any noted skill or knowledge gaps.
• Strong ability to effectively address any performance issues.
• Ability to provide strong mentorship and guidance to junior staff.
• Ability to grow and develop staff through multiple levels within the department career ladder. Ability to coach project leads in development of leadership, communication and project management skills.
• Ability to coach project support staff in development of technical skills, efficiency and quality. Ability to work independently in a staff management capacity, in limited consultation with management.
• Ability to perform project review and process analysis, identify potential risks and process improvements — and propose appropriate action.
• Functions as a positive, engaging and motivating team player.
• Ability to direct, manage and coordinate the day-to-day eff01ts of multiple levels of staff.
• Ability to effectively balance multiple concurrent priorities in a fast-paced, complex setting. Ability to effectively manage multiple internal and external customers competing concurrently for attention, services and resources.

• Ability to anticipate and identify problems and take appropriate action to correct.

• Good familiarity with MS Office and Windows applications beneficial.
