The NIOH is the premier institute, under the aegis of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. The need for research in Occupational Health in the country was first appreciated by Indian Research Fund Association (IRFA), the forerunner of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). IRFA set up an Industrial Health Advisory Committee (IHAC) under the chairmanship of Col. Bozman in 1945.
Post : Programme Officer
The following position is to be filled up the by Walk-in interview/ Written test under project EIACP Resource Partner (RP) entitled "ENVIROENMENT AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH" at ICMR-National Institute of Occupational Health, Ahmedabad funded by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, New Delhi. The positions are purely temporary, ad-hoc & on contractual basis and co- terminus with the project.

Qualifications & Experience : M.Sc. (Natural Sciences*/ Environmental Science) with at least 5 years of experience OR B. Tech./BE, well versed in computer applications/ Web Development with at least 5 years of experience (*Life Science, Microbiology, Zoology, Earth Science, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Clinical Research, Public Health etc.)
Consolidated Salary : Rs. 50,000/- per month as per norms (fixed without any other allowances)
Place of work : ICMR-NIOH, Ahmedabad
Age Upper : age limit is 35 year as on the date of the walk in interview/ written test
Job Description : He/She will prepare a comprehensive annual plan of activities/ work as well as Strategic Plan for the forthcoming year in consultation with the Programme Coordinator and will be responsible for implementing the same. The activities will include development of value added information products, conducting GSDP courses, organizing mega/regional events and other outreach activities. The Programme Officer will be the overall technical head of the Centre under the Programme Coordinator. He/She will also be involved in coordination, organization and management of any mega/regional event and other
activities under Mission LiFE and SAP.
Tenure : The present appointment will be till March 2025. The tenure will be further extended based on sanction of project by funding agency and performance of candidate and as per ICMR rule for project staff.
Terms and Conditions
1. The interested candidates meeting above-mentioned conditions of eligibility may report latest by on 10th January 2025, 10:00AM (Friday) at ICMR-National Institute of Occupational Health, Meghaninagar, Near Ghoda Camp, Ahmedabad - 380016. Candidates will not be entertained after reporting time under any circumstances. The candidates have to submit application on plain paper along with two copies of their detailed Bio-Data with self-attested copies of the certificates (a) Proof of Date of Birth (b) Qualifications (c) Experience (d) Recent Passport size photograph and testimonials at the time of reporting. The original certificates may be produce for verification on demand. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for walk-in- interview/written test after verification of documents. The walk in Written Test / Interview will be taken in English/Hindi.
2. Benefits of Provident Fund, CCA, DA, HRA, TA, Leave Travel Concession, Medical Claim, Leave Concession etc. are not admissible. The posts are purely temporary, Co-terminate the project, and the incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointment/employment under ICMR/ICMR- NIOH/MoEF&CC, or continuation other project and his/her engagement will be deemed terminated immediately alter expiry of the scheme without any notice.
3. Age relaxation will be admissible as per GoI norms. Age concession to the extent of service rendered in the other ICMR research project will also be admissible for the experienced and skill persons.
4. Candidate employed in Govt. Service/ Semi Govt. / Autonomous bodies of state / Central Govt. should submit a “No Objection Certificate (NOC)” from their employer at the time of written test/ walk in interview.
5. Depending upon number of applicants. The written exanimation /test shall be conducted. The duration of examination is of one hour and consisting of objective type questions on general science. General analytical ability and knowledge of concern area. 6. Submission of incorrect or false information during the process of personal discussion shall disqualify the candidature.
7. Any further information may be downloaded from ICMR-NIOH, Ahmedabad website (https://nioh.org), which will be updated from time to time. Date of walk-in-interview / written test may be changed due to administrative reasons, hence, candidates are advised to check website before appearing for walk-in- interview / written test.
8. No TD/DA will be paid for the attending walk-in-interview / written test/ personal discussion.
9. The decision of the Director, ICMR- National Institute of Occupational Health, Ahmedabad will be final in this regard. Canvassing in any form will be considered as a disqualification.
