Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology, an Autonomous Institute under the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, invites applications from well-qualified Indian nationals for contractual scientist position at the level of Project Scientist in the Life Science Division of IASST. The position is temporary, initially for 11 months, which may be extended based on availability of fund and performance and may be terminated with one-month notice without giving any reason.

Applications are invited from retired officers of any Government Department/PSU (Central/State) for Engagement as Consultants at the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) Garchuk, Guwahati (Assam) on purely temporary basis. Eligible and interested candidates may submit applications online in prescribed format for consideration within 21 days of publication of this advertisement.

Pay : Rs. 80,000/- (Consolidated) per month. In case of retired Government employee, a fixed monthly amount shall be admissible arrived at by deducting the basic pension from the pay drawn at the time of retirement. The amount of remuneration so fixed shall remain unchanged for the term of the contract without any annual increment/percentage increase. Though no DA, HRA, medical benefit shall be admissible, an appropriate and fixed amount as transport allowance for communicating between the residence and IASST may be allowed but not exceeding the rate applicable to the appointee at the time of retirement. The consultancy shall be governed by Consultancy rules.
Job description : To assist Director in all Academic, R&D, intellectual property & technology related matters, and faculty related activities of the institute.
Qualification and Experience : Essential : Masters degree in Physical / Life Sciences with Ph.D. in any of the thrust areas of research at IASST. Individual should have been with last position before the retirement in a position of Scientist G / Professor (7th CPC pay scale level 14) who are retired preferably, from centrally funded / state funded institutions with teaching and/or research experience of 20 years.
Desirable : Proven track record of contribution to higher education, research projects and publications. Candidate must have strong research communication skill with analytical thinking. Past record of serving as administrative head/ intellectual property related work will be of added benefit.
Age : Age limit below 63 years on the last date of submission of application.
Duration : Initially for a period of one year. This term can be extended further depending on the need of the consultant. However, the contract may be terminated by any party by giving one month’s advance notice. The appointment of Consultants is of a temporary nature and the IASST can cancel the appointment at any time without providing any reason for it.
Mode of selection :
Applications submitted in response to the posting will be evaluated, and qualified candidates will be invited for a personal interview and verification of original documents. The applicant will be selected based on qualifications, experience, and the results of personal interactions.
Important Notes :
1. The candidates must carefully study the format of the application and instructions given, fill it up very meticulously furnishing all the required information correctly as sought for in order to avoid rejection of the application.
2. Candidates are required to have a valid personal email ID. It should be kept active during the process of recruitment.
3. The name of the candidate, Date of Birth and his / her Parent’s name etc. should be written correctly in the biodata as it appears in the class 10th certificate. Date of birth/ Age cannot be altered subsequently.
4. Any changes / alteration found may disqualify the candidature.
5. Only short listed candidates will be informed individually for appearing in interview. No uploading of interview notification will be made in website.
6. The IASST authority reserves the right to relax any of the above conditions on recommendation by the panel of experts to be constituted for selection of the post.
7. Only selected candidate will be communicated the result after the interview and results will not be uploaded in the website.
8. The IASST reserves the right to defer or decide against filling up of the aforesaid position without assigning any reason thereof.
9. Leave- consultant shall be eligible for paid leave of absence at the rate of 1.5 days for each completing month of service. Also un-availed leave in a calendar year cannot be carried forward to next year' Department would be free to terminate the services in case of absence by more than 30 days beyond the entitled leave in a calendar year.
10. Consultants appointed would not be permitted to take up any other assignment during the period of Consultancy with IASST.
