The Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) Mumbai was established as the Department of Chemical Technology on 1st October, 1933 by the University of Mumbai, through active support of industries and philanthropists. The Institute was most popularly known as UDCT, Mumbai. Research has been an integral part of ICT since its inception and it has created over 500 first generation entrepreneurs. The UDCT grew significantly in stature and was granted autonomy under UGC regulations by the University of Mumbai and further converted in to an Institute on 26th January, 2002. Under the World Bank TEQIP programme, the Maharashtra government granted it full autonomy in June 2004. Due to the recommendations of the Government of Maharashtra and University of Mumbai, the ICT was granted Deemed University Status by the MHRD on 12th September, 2008, with all provisions of the UGC for funding and support as the state owned deemed university.

1. a) Bachelor’s and / or Master’s degree in Pharmacy / Pharmaceuticals and Fine Chemicals / Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology with first class or equivalent CGPA with first class or equivalent CGPA at least at one level from a recognized institute/ university.
Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Technology with first class or equivalent CGPA of a recognized institute/ university.
AND
1. b) Doctoral degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry/ Technology / other such cross – disciplinary areas relevant to the field.
AND
2. Academic / Research Experience: Ten years, out of which at least five years at the level of Associate Professor or equivalent grade. High quality published work, actively engaged in research and having significant contributions in areas like Synthetic Organic Chemistry/Process Chemistry of Drug Molecules and Industrial Application/ Peptide and Nucleoside Chemistry/ Chemistry of Natural Products, Reagent and Reaction System Design, Impurity Profiling, Structure Elucidation techniques, etc.

Industrial / Professional Experience: Ten years, out of which at least five years at the level of Associate Professor or equivalent grade. Significant contributions in the areas of Pharmaceutical Chemistry/ Technology.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience: Excellent academic record throughout the academic career. Experience of guiding research work at Doctoral level along with high quality peer reviewed published work in journals of international repute / patents.
Experience of handling industrial consultancy/sponsored projects.

1. b) Doctoral degree in Pharmaceutical Analysis/ Quality Assurance / Pharmaceutical Chemistry / other such cross – disciplinary areas relevant to the field.
AND
2. Academic / Research Experience: A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/ or research in an academic/ research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/ industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research. Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceuticals and Fine Chemicals / Pharmacy, Bachelor’s and / or Master’s degrees in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, Master’ degree in Pharmaceutical Technology / Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Medicinal Chemistry. First class or equivalent CGPA of at least at one level from a recognized institute/ university.
AND
2. Experience: The candidate should have proven inclination to teaching and research work in the areas of Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, CADD, Pharmaceutical Analysis, etc.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience: Excellent academic record throughout the academic career. Candidates with experience of industry / research laboratory and with Doctoral degree in Pharmaceutical Analysis/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Medicinal Chemistry will be given preference.

General terms and conditions for the faculty posts:
1. For Assistant Professor’s post:
a) The candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/ SET.
b) Candidates possessing Ph.D. degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for award of Ph.D. degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET.
c) NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programme’s in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.
d) The period of time taken by candidate to acquire M.Phil. and / or Ph.D. Degree shall not be considered as teaching/ research experience to be claimed for appointment to the teaching positions.
e) The publications may be based on the doctoral work of the candidate.

2. For Associate Professor’s post: The candidate from academia must have been actively involved in research and guided at least two Ph.D. / five Master’s candidates with high quality publications.

3. For Professor’s post: The candidate should have guided five Ph.D. or equivalent work/ Patents.

4. Candidates who have already worked on the government approved schemes such as INSPIRE, Fast Track, or having at least 5 years of industry, research or academic experience after Ph.D. will be considered as equivalent to Assistant Professors and the same rules will be applied for consideration for appointment to a higher stage as per the Government norms.

5. Candidates who do not have formal Master’s degree but have earned their Ph.D. (integrated) directly after Bachelor’s degree should have enough course credits during their doctoral work.

6. If a Class/ Division is not awarded at the Bachelor’s/ Master’s level, a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate shall be considered equivalent to First class/ division. If a Grade Point system is adopted, the CGPA will be converted into equivalent marks.

7. A relaxation up to 5% in the marks or corresponding CGPA will be admissible at the Master’s level for the candidates belonging to the reserved category.

8. In case of candidates who have guided Ph.D.s, there should be publications/ patents arising out of the Ph.D. thesis in refereed national/ international journals. Merely guiding or co-guiding Ph.D. will not gain any weightage in the absence of publications.

9. The research papers should be published in cited research journals of repute in the relevant scientific areas.

10. The educational qualifications prescribed for a given post are the minimum and mere possession of the same shall not entitle a candidate to be called for an interview.

11. For Associate Professor’s and Professor’s post, the publications to be considered should be based on the independent or guided research work during the qualifying service in the lower grade or those emanating from post-doctoral work in reputed academic/ research institute.

12. The quality and impact factor of the journal for a specific discipline will be decided by the Selection Committee and a cumulative impact factor for that discipline will be calculated.

13. In case of multiple author papers, or multi-institutional collaborations, the contribution of the candidate will be decided as per the status of the candidate, i.e., corresponding author/ supervisor, co-author or one of the students. Of the total contribution for the relevant category of publication by the candidate, the corresponding author/supervisor and co-authoring faculty should share equally 60% of the total points and the remaining 40% would be shared equally by the all the student coauthors.

14. The short-listed candidates will be required to make three types of presentations before the Departmental Committee prior to interview by the Selection Committee:
1) Classroom teaching,
2) Past research and future research interests and
3) Plans for out-reach activities.

The performance in these presentations will be one of the major criteria for selection of the candidate for faculty position.

15. The maximum age limits for application to various Government approved academic positions are as prescribed by the Government of Maharashtra.
* Professor - 54 years
* Associate Professor - 50 years
* Assistant Professor - 35 years

16. Pay Scales:
a) Professor : Rs. 37400-67000 with AGP Rs. 10000 (Minimum pay in Pay Band- Rs. 43,000)
b) Associate Professor : Rs. 37400-67000 with AGP Rs. 9000
c) Assistant Professor : Rs. 15600-39100 with AGP Rs. 6000

Important points to note before filling up the Application Form:
1. Candidates should apply online till 07.02.2014 through the ICT link to Recruitment online. The Candidate should submit ONE application consisting of the printout of the filled application form along with all the enclosures to the “Assistant Registrar (Administration) Institute of Chemical Technology, Nathalal Parekh Marg, Matunga, Mumbai-400019” by Registered Post A/D only.

2. Applications made through online mode will only be considered.

3. Application should be accompanied with a non-refundable Pay Order/ Demand Draft of Rs.1000/- (for Open Category) and Rs. 500/- (for candidates belonging to reserved categories of State of Maharashtra), of nationalized Bank drawn in favour of “Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai”, payable at Mumbai.

4. Candidates already employed must submit their applications through proper channel along with No Objection certificate from present employer.

5. The envelope containing application form should be super scribed as “Application for the Post of _________________________.”

6. Candidates residing abroad must send a hard copy of the application by post duly signed, so as to reach this office on or before the last date. Scanned or photo copy of the application will not be considered.

7. Applications incomplete in any respect, applications without required supporting documents or those received after the last date of receipt of application will not be considered.

8. Candidates are requested to refer ICT website from time to time as all information and circulars will be notified on the website. No inquiry regarding eligibility criteria shall be entertained.

10. As per the Notification No. SRV.2000/CR (17/2000) XII, dated 28th March 2005 issued by General Administration Department, Mantralaya, Mumbai, a candidate shall submit the declaration of the small family in the prescribed proforma attached to the application form as “Proforma A”. The eligibility of the applicant will be determined as provided under this rule.

11. Candidates belonging to the reserved categories as recognized in the state of Maharashtra shall only be considered under reserved categories. The candidate belonging to the reserved categories from outside the State of Maharashtra will be treated as Open.

12. Positions mentioned at Sr. No. 16 and 17 being at same level are vacant for SC/ ST candidates. Those will interchangeable subject to availability of suitable qualified candidates from either category.

13. For reserved posts, candidates belonging to the concerned reserved category only should apply.

14. Women reservation will be applicable as per Govt. of Maharashtra Resolution No. 82/2001/MSA-2000/CR 415/K-2, dated 25th May, 2001 only for the candidates domiciled in Maharashtra and having Non Creamy Layer Certificate based on last three years income.
