This Institute came into existence on 1st April,1976 when the India Centre of JALMA was officially handed over to the Govt. of India and subsequently to the Indian Council of Medical Research. This was named as Central JALMA Institute for Leprosy in 1976 and has been renamed as "National Jalma Institute of Leprosy and other Mycobacterial Diseases" in 2005 to reflect its broader research areas. This Institute was originally established as "India Centre of JALMA" in 1966 and was managed by a Tokyo based voluntary organisation -JALMA (Japanese Leprosy Mission for Asia). This Institute is one of the fine examples of international human links and compassion for each other.
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the following posts under the project entitled "National Reference Laboratory (NRL)” a long term project under National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP)" at the Institute.
Biotechnologist – NRL

Essential Qualification & Experience : Ph.D. in Biotechnology / Molecular Biology and three years of work experience in TB Bacteriology/ Biotechnology/Molecular Biology or M.Sc. Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology and five years of work experience in TB Bacteriology/ Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology
Age limit Maximum : 65 years.
Consolidated emoluments : Rs. 65,000/- P.M. fixed without any other allowances at present
Nature of duties : To provide support in planning, scaling up of quality assured molecular testing and sequencing facility at NRL and linked IRLs & C-DST- Labs and as per NTEP’s needs which requires frequent travel. The candidates may note that the positions would require minimum 15 days of travel per month. Those who are not willing / have any kind of issue with travelling may not apply.

3. Engagement of the above advertised Project Human Resource Positions will depend upon availability of funds, functional requirements and approval of the Competent Authority. Therefore, we are not committed to fill up all the advertised Project Human Resource Positions and the process is liable to be withdrawn/cancelled/modified at any time.
4. The rates of emoluments/stipend shown in this advertisement are project specific and may vary according to sanction of the funding agency of the Project.
5. Cut-off date for age limit will be as on the date of last date for submission of applications.

7. Qualification & experience should be in relevant discipline / field and from an Institution of repute. Experience should have been gained after acquiring the minimum essential qualification.

14. Competent Authority of ICMR-NJIL&OMD, Agra Reserves the right to terminate the project human resource position even during the agreed contract period or extended contract period without assigning any reason.
15. Leave shall be as per the ICMR’s policy for project human resource positions.
