National TB Prevalence Survey project Recruitment at NIRT

The National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis [Formerly Tuberculosis Research Centre (TRC)], a permanent institute under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), is an internationally recognized institution for Tuberculosis (TB) research. It is a Supranational Reference Laboratory and a WHO Collaborating Centre for TB Research and Training. Recently, an International Centre for Excellence in Research (ICER) in collaboration with NIH was established at the Centre.

The following posts are to be filled purely on contract basis from willing eligible candidates to work for the project titled “National survey for state-wise prevalence of microbiologically confirmed Pulmonary Tuberculosis in India”

Consultant (Medical)
No of vacancies : 10 posts (Bihar-1, Rajasthan-1, Odisha-1, Gujarat-1, Jharkhand-1, West Bengal-1, Andhra Pradesh-1,Punjab- 1,Assam-1, Himachal Pradesh/Utarakand/Jamm u and Kashmir-1)
Upper age limit : 70 years
Consolidated Monthly Salary : Rs. 72,325/- p.m (Fixed)
Education qualification : Essential qualification : Retired Medical Officers from Govt / Govt. recognized Medical Institute. Desirable qualification:
1. Master degree in the relevant subject (Community Medicine/ Preventive & Social Medicine/ Paediatrics/ Medicine/ Tropical Medicine/ Community Health Administration/Health Administration/ FamilyMedicine/ Epidemiology/ Public Health) from a recognized university.
2. Additional Post-doctoral research/teaching experience in relevant subjects in recognized institute(s).
3. Knowledge of Computer Applications or Business Intelligence tools /Data Management.
4. Minimum one-year experience in NTEP

Consultant Microbiologist (Non-Medical)
No of vacancies : Tamilnadu (Chennai - CPMU) -1
Upper age limit : 45 years
Consolidated Monthly Salary : Rs.60,000/- p.m (fixed)
Education qualification : Essential qualification: Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology / Immunology / Biotechnology from a recognized University with 3 years of TB related research experience (OR) M.Sc. degree in relevant subjects from a recognized University with 5 years of TB related research experience.
Desirable qualification:
1.Hands on experience with culture and DST of Mycobacterium.
2. Experience of handling and reporting IGRA or Immunological assays related to Mycobacterium
3. Infection studies with tissue culture cells.
4. Additional post-doctoral research/teaching experience in Mycobacteriology from recognized Institute(s) .
5. Knowledge of Computer Applications or data management.

Project Technical Officer (Senior Investigator)
No of vacancies : 1 post (Maharashtra-1) SC-1
Upper age limit : 30 years
Consolidated Monthly Salary : Rs.32,000/- p.m (fixed)
Education qualification : Essential qualification : Graduate in Science/Epidemiology/Public Health from a recognized University with 5 years’ work experience in a recognized institution. (or) Master’s degree in Epidemiology/Public Health from a recognized University.
Desirable qualification:
• Three years Research / Field Experience.
• Any Survey / Field experience.
• Minimum 2 years experience in NTEP.
Job Specifications/Responsibilities
• Get trained in Protocol of National TB Prevalence Survey.
• Assist Senior Investigator in training & sensitizations as well as other preparatory activities for the survey.
• Lead survey cluster activities in the absence of Senior Investigator.
• Take handover from Senior Investigator (when he/she is moving to next cluster for planning) and continue coordination activities in current activities
• Hand over the cluster activity status, pending and follow-up activity details with local NTEP staff and officials.
• Coordination & supervision of all activities in the cluster during survey including enumeration, enrolment of eligible, interview of participants, X- Ray of all participants, Blood and sputum collection, maintaining cold-chain, transportation etc.
• Use IT system for daily monitoring of progress and take timely corrective action for maintain highest quality and participation & completion of survey activities.
• Establishing coordination and support from local health facilities and authorities for survey activities.
• Ensure that electronic attendance register is maintained for Survey Team as well as supervisory officers, support staff etc. for each cluster.
• Any other job as assigned by Survey PMU.

No of vacancies : 1 post (Maharashtra-1) EWS-1
Upper age limit : 30 years
Consolidated Monthly Salary :Rs.32,000/- p.m (fixed)
Education qualification : Essential qualification: Graduate in Science from a recognized University with 5 years’ work experience in a recognized institution. (or) Master’s degree in Epidemiology/Public Health from a recognized University.
Desirable qualification:
• Three year of Research Experience
• Any Survey/Field experience.
• One year experience in NTEP.

No of vacancies : 1 post (Bihar-1) UR-1
Upper age limit : 30 years
Consolidated Monthly Salary :Rs.32,000/- p.m (fixed)
Education qualification : Essential qualification:
Graduate in social sciences/Social Work / Sociology / Medical Sociology / Psychology / Anthropology from a recognized university with 5 years’ work experience from a recognized institution. (or) Master’s degree in social sciences / Social Work/ Sociology/ Medical Sociology / Psychology / Anthropology.
Desirable qualification:
• Experience in administering Informed Consent.
• Experience of working in community health programs.
Job Specifications/Responsibilities
• Get trained in Protocol of National TB Prevalence Survey.
• Assist Senior Investigator in training & sensitizations as well as other preparatory activities for the survey.
• Organize sensitization of local leaders, community representatives and community groups.
• Ensure participation of community members in Survey.
• Supervise specifically census enumeration process
• Address non-participation and manage instances of anti-propaganda in positive manner.
• Establishing coordination and support from local health facilities and authorities for survey activities.
• Any other job as assigned by Survey PMU.

The date of online skill test/written test followed by interview will be intimated to the short-listed candidates. The short-listed candidates should make their own arrangements for videoconferencing facility to attend online interviews and test for which the web link will be shared by NIRT.

Interested candidates who possesses the requisite eligibility criteria may apply online attaching the self-attested copies of credentials including latest caste/community certificate issued by the competent authority and uploading a photograph latest by 21st December 2020 till 5:00 p.m.

Note : Though the primary area of work is as mentioned above, depending on the project requirements the staff may be posted in the
other sites, states for completion of the project in timely manner

General Conditions
1. Initial Contract for the Posting is for six months or till the completion of the project whichever is earlier.
2. The conditions of employment will be the same as that of the project staff on contract basis.
3. The candidates have no right to claim for any regular employment at this Institute.
4. The appointing authority has the right to accept/ reject any application without assigning any reason(s) and no correspondence in this matter
will be entertained. Age, Qualification, experience etc., will be reckoned as on the date of walk-in-written test/ Interview.
