The International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) - India, Andhra Pradesh Regional Chapter head office at Raghavendra Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research – RIPER, in association with Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) Anantapuramu Branch and Rural Development Trust (RDT) Hospitals Bathalapalli, Anantapuramu, Andhra Pradesh organized an One day “National Symposium on Exploring New Insights of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcome Research” on 5 December 2015 at RDT hospitals.

The primary axiom of the symposium is to promote the science of pharmacoeconomics (health economics) and outcomes research (the scientific discipline that evaluates the effect of health care interventions on patient well-being including clinical, economic, and patient-centred outcomes) and facilitates the translation of this research into useful information for health care decision makers to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and fairness of health care to improve health.

The symposium was presided by President-ISPOR AP Chapter Dr. Y. Padmanabha Reddy, Secretary and Treasurer-ISPOR AP Chapter Dr. Mohanraj Rathinavelu, Directors-ISPOR AP Chapter Dr. M. Jaffar Sadiqand Mr. G. Narayana(Organizing secretary). The symposium was another milestone in ISPOR-AP Chapter achievements, the entire credits of which goes to the reputed, expertise and legendary resource persons:

Dr. Prakash V Diwan(Former President-Indian Pharmacological Society, Director Grade-Scientist IICT Hyderabad, Director School of Pharmacy)

Dr. M.S. Ganachari (Professor and Head, Division of Pharmacy Practice, KLEU’s College of Pharmacy, Belgaum)

Dr. Shobarani R Hiremath (Professor and Principal, Head-Division of Pharmacy Practice, Al-Ameen College of Pharmacy, Bangalore)

The Guest of the symposium was Dr. Sudheer-Medical Director RDT Hospitals Bathalapalli (Head-Department of Surgery).

The symposium drew nearly 150 Pharm.D students as participants from various pharmacy institution of the country. The symposium illustrated the significance of Pharmacoeconomics in healthcare delivery settings and patient care, which is the need for hour in our country due to increase cost in healthcare delivery system and rising economic burden within consumers.
