CSIR- National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow, a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), is a premier plant science research institute, involved in multidisciplinary R&D programmes of both basic and applied nature across scientific disciplines for economic, environmental and societal benefits for the people of India. CSIR-NBRI undertakes basic and applied research in strategically important areas of plant sciences.

Post: Research Associate, Senior Project Fellow, Project Fellow/Project Assistant Level II/III
Area II: Ecology & Environmental Science
Post: Research Associate/ Provisional RAship For
Education: Research Associate: Ph.D. in Biotechnology/ Biological Science / Botany / Environmental Science. For Provisional RAship – those who have submitted Ph.D. in the above mentioned subjects, they can also apply for RA - ship (Provisional) for one year only pending award of Ph.D degree. They have to get regularized as RA after award of Ph.D. degree but within one year.
Age limit: 35 years
Stipend: Rs.36000/ - p.m. + HRA
The selected candidates may be engaged in Emeritus Scientist Scheme entitled,” Role of sulphur and selenium in arsenic translocation and tolerance in rice (Oryza sativa L)
Area III: Biodiversity & Bioprospection
Post: Project Assistant Level II
Education: 1 st class M.Sc. in Botany/ Biotechnology/ Life Science.
Age limit: 28 years
Stipend: Rs.12000/ - pm consolidated
The selected candidates may be engaged in any of the following or other projects (if needed).
1. National Network program on Lichens: Bioprospecting its secondary compounds and establishing cultures and collection.
2. Bioprospection of plant resources and other natural products (BioprosPR)
Area IV: Molecular Biology & Biotechnology
Post: SPF/PA Level III
Education: For SPF: 1st class M.Sc in Plant Science / Biotechnology / Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Life science with 2 years post M.Sc. research experience and one publication in SCI journal.
For PA Level III: 1st class M.Sc in one of the above subjects with 2 years post M.Sc. research experience
Age limit: 32 years
Stipend: For SPF: Rs.18000/- pm + HRA
For PA Level III: Rs.14000/- pm consolidated
Post: Project Assistant Level II
Education: 1st class M.Sc. in Botany/ Plant Science/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Life science / Bioinformatics/ Computer Science
Age limit: 28 years
Stipend: Rs.12000/ - pm consolidated
The selected candidates may be engaged in any of the following or other projects (if needed)
1- Enhanceromics to genome regulation
2- Genomics of Medicinal plants and Agronomically important traits (PlaGen)
3 - Insect inducible methanol production in plants for insect resistance
Area V: Microbiology
Post: Research Associate
Qualification: Ph.D. in Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Environmental Microbiology / Botany/ Biological Science/ Biochemistry.

Post: S.P.F./Project Assistant Level III

For PA Level II: 1st class M.Sc. in one of the above subjects.

Stipend: For PF: Rs.16000/ - pm + HRA
For PA Level II: Rs.12000/- pm consolidated
The selected candidates may be engaged in the project entitled”, Root Biology and its corrlation to sustainable plant development and soil fertility (ROOTSF)” or other projects (if needed).

Age: Age of the candidates will be reckoned as on date of walk in interview. However, for UPCST sponsored project age will be reckoned as on 01-04-2015. Age relaxation for the position of RA/Provisional RA /SPF/ PF/ PA Level III/PA Level II/ SRF(P) as per Government of India/CSIR instructions. TERMS & CONDITIONS:
a) HRA may be admissible if there is provision in the projects
b) The Application form will be provided at the venue on the date. However, candidates may download the application form in advance from the website nbri.res.in. At the time of interview candidates should bring one latest photograph, attested copy of certificates of examinations passed (starting from matriculation), certificate indicating date of birth, caste certificate (in case of SC/ST/OBC) and experience certificate, etc. Tentative mark sheets/certificates and 'result awaited' will not be considered. All eligible candidates are requested to be present at the venue on the said date one hour before the scheduled time for necessary formalities.
c) Mode of Selection: Through Interview. However, if large number of candidates turns up, a Screening test comprising of multiple choice objective questions will be held for short listing the candidates for interview. The short listed candidates will be interviewed by the Selection Committee and, based on the performance in the interview; a panel of recommended candidates will be formed. The panel shall be utilized as and when the requirement arises in the projects in the relevant field/area. Candidates have the option to interact in Hindi/English before the committee. In case of turning up of large no. of candidates, interview may continue for next day.
d) The positions are purely temporary on contract basis and co- terminus with the sponsored projects. Further the above stipend(s) is tentative and the same will be finally decided based on the availability of funds in the relevant sponsored projects.
e) In case of Universities/Institutes awarding CGPA/SGPA/OGPA Grades etc., candidates are requested to convert the same into percentage based on the formula as per their University/Institute.
e) To avoid any inconvenience, only those candidates who strictly fulfill the eligibility criteria and possess the degree/mark sheet in the aforesaid subjects should turn up for floating interview
No TA/DA will be admissible.
