Vacancy for Project Scientist, Project Associate at NIPGR

The facility is affiliated with National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi (NIPGR) and serve to facilitate genotyping services with private service providers and then advanced these, in a focused way, to meet the goal of food and nutritional security through genomics led breeding. The fundamental principle is relatively simple create and charter an entity with express purpose of serving crop or plant varietal genotyping and characterization in India. It will also help to overcome legal hurdles in Material Transfer, IPR protection, etc.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up purely temporary positions in the “DBT- Processing and Monitoring Unit (PMU) for Emerging Frontiers in Biotechnology Programs of the DBT”, at NIPGR. The details of the positions are as under

Project Scientist-I - 01 Post
Monthly Emoluments : Rs.56,000 + 27% HRA
Qualification* : Doctoral Degree in Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from recognized University or Equivalent
Upper Age limit : 35 years
Project Scientist-II - 01 Post
Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 67,000 + 27%HRA
Qualification* : (i) Doctoral Degree in Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from recognized University or Equivalent; and
(ii) Three years’ experience in Research & Development in Industrial & Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities & services
Upper Age limit : 40 years
Senior Project Associate - 03 posts
Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 42,000 + 27 % HRA
Qualification* : (i) Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; and
(ii) Four years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services OR Doctoral Degree in Science / Engineering / Technology / Pharma / MD / MS from a recognized University or equivalent
Upper Age limit : 40 years

Project Associate-II - 04 posts
Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 35,000+ 27%HRA
Qualification* : (i) Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; and
(ii) 2 years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services
Upper Age limit : 35 years
Scientific Administrative Assistant/Field Worker - 01 Post
Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 18,000 + 27% HRA
Qualification* : Graduate degree in any discipline
Upper Age limit : 35 years
Note : Manpower qualification and emolument are as per DST OM No. SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated July 10, 2020.
*In addition to the essential qualifications mentioned above, preference will be given to applicants (excluding Scientific Administrative Assistants/Field Workers) with experience in lab management, grant management, and supervisory roles. Proficiency in scientific communication is also a desirable qualification and will be given weight in the selection process.

Role and Responsibilities
The roles and responsibilities of the selected personals will be as follows :
• The Project Scientist I & II, will play crucial role in supporting the Emerging Frontiers in Biotechnology (EFB) Directorate of DBT in the coordination of Internal Screening Committee meeting, Technical Expert Committee meeting, progress reviews meeting, fund release processes, etc.
• The Senior Project Associate will be assisting the EFB Directorate in coordination with Principal Investigators of the proposals to gather and analyze financial and other relevant documents, facilitating the proposal for evaluation and grant releases.
• The responsibilities of the Project Associate II include assistance in preparing notes, tables, and other documentation for the grant release proposal.
• The Project Assistant will be assigned to the PMU to handle multitasking assignments.
• The above job responsibilities are illustrative and whenever required, the Competent Authority may also assign additional work.

The above positions are completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The emoluments for the above positions are as sanctioned in the project and as per DST OM No. SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated July 10, 2020. The initial appointment will be for one year or till the tenability of the project whichever is earlier and the same can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate. The reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The appointment may be terminated any time by giving one month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.
