National Institute For Plant Biotechnology has been entrusted with the responsibility of developing new tools and techniques and to deliver breakthrough in biotechnology for crop improvement. With a humble beginning and a few dedicated scientists, the centre could successfully deliver varieties such as Pusa Jai Kisan, which is one of the top three mustard varieties released by the ICAR till date.
Applications from Indian nationals are invited for temporary engagement as per below. Engagement shall be purely on contractual basis.
Research Associate-I
Title of the Project : Confined field trials and molecular characterization of pigeonea transgenics with cry1AcF and cry2Aa for event selection
Funding Agency : BIRAC
Duration of the Tenure : Two years from the date of appointment or termination of project whichever is earlier
Emoluments Fixed per month(Rs.) : Rs. 58000/- + 24 % HRA
Essential Qualifications : PhD Degree or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Life Science/Botany/Genetics/Plant Breeding/Plant pathology/Plant physiology/Microbiology/Bioinformatics. The candidates with only Master’s degree must have three years of research, teaching, and design and development experience with at least one research paper in SCI journal. Desirable Qualifications : Research experience in plant molecular biology, gene cloning, plant transformation, tissue culture, wet lab work.
Young Professional-I

Desirable Qualifications : Research experience in plant molecular biology, gene cloning, plant transformation, tissue culture, wet lab work evidenced from publication fellowship/Associateship/Training
Junior Research Fellow
Title of the Project : Elucidation of inceptin (herbivore-associated molecular patterns (HAMP)- elicited plant immunity during Helicoverpa armigera-Cajanus scarabaeoides interaction.
Funding Agency : DST-SERB
Duration of the Tenure : Two years from the date of appointment or termination of project, whichever is earlier. Extendable further based on the performance of fellow.
Emoluments Fixed per month(Rs.) : Rs. 31000/- + 24 % HRA (for first two years) Rs.35000/-+24% HRA (for third year)
Essential Qualifications : Post graduate degree in Basic Science (Life Sciences/Bioinformatics) or Post Graduate degree in professional courses (Life Sciences including Agricultural Sciences) selected through a process described in any one of the following. 1. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Test CSIR, UGC-NET including lectureship (Assistant professorship) and GATE. 2. The selection process through national level exam conducted by Central government departments and their agencies and institute such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
Desirable Qualifications : Working experience in Molecular Biology techniques, Bioinformatics tools, Plant Tissue Culture, and genetic transformation with supporting publications.
Young Professional-II
Title of the Project : Management of pod-borer Helicoverpa armigera in pigeonpea
Funding Agency : ICAR -AINP
Duration of the Tenure : One year from the date of appointment or termination of project, whichever is earlier, extendable based on satisfactory performance.
Emoluments Fixed per month(Rs.) : Rs. 42000/- (consolidated)
Essential Qualifications : Post Graduates in Botany/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/ Life Science/ Genetics/Plant Breeding/Plant Pathology/Plant Physiology/ Biotechnology/Bioinformatics or B.Tech in Biotechnology.
Desirable Qualifications : Research experience in plant molecular biology, gene cloning, plant transformation, tissue culture, wet lab work development and analysis of transgenic plants, Scientific writing, evidenced from publication fellowship/Associateship/Training
Terms and Conditions:-
1. Interested candidates will attend the Walk-In-Interviews with 2 copies of Application form (attached below) along with 2 self – attested copies of all the documents related to educational qualifications/experience/publications etc. The candidates must also bring all the Original documents for verification.

XV. PhD marksheet. (as & where applicable) XVI. SC/ST/OBC Non-Creamy Layer/PH certificate as applicable.
XVII. Copy of publication if any.
XVIII. Any other relevant documents. Those candidates who fail to bring the documents mentioned above on the date of Interviews, their candidature is liable to be cancelled.
3. Only candidates having essential qualifications would be considered for the interviews.
4. Number of post as advertised may increase or decrease depending upon the requirement of the Institute and various undergoing/running projects having same essential qualifications.
5. Incomplete applications without requisite documents in any form will be summarily rejected.
6. All the claims made in application form needs to be attached with substantial documentary evidence else the claim will not be considered.
7. For claiming experience, necessary experience certificate duly issued by competent authority has to be enclosed with application for consideration of the same.
8. Age Limit : Lower age limit : 21 years
Upper age limit : 45 years
9. No TA/DA would be given for appearing in the interview.
10. The positions are purely temporary, on a contractual basis and initially offered for one year or till project duration whichever is earlier. However, the positions can be terminated with one months’ notice owing to any change in circumstances. The person selected will have no right to claim employment or engagement in ICAR at the end of the contract period.
11. Concealing of facts/canvassing shall lead to disqualification of the candidature.
12. The Competent Authority/Director of the Institute reserves the right to accept or reject any or all the applications without assigning any reason thereof.
13. The decision of the Competent Authority/Director of the Institute will be final and binding in all aspects.
14. In case of any disputes, it will be resolved within the jurisdiction of New Delhi Court only.
15. Candidates are advised to keep checking the Institute website on a regular basis for any kind of further information regarding interview.
