Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is an autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. THSTI is developed as a part of the interdisciplinary NCR Biotech Science Cluster located at Faridabad, in the National Capital Region. THSTI is designed as a dynamic, interactive organization with a mission to conduct innovative translational research and to develop research collaborations across disciplines and professions to translate concepts into tangible products to improve human health. The interim laboratories of the centre are functioning from Gurgaon in Haryana.
Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) invites applications for the Young investigator award in the Maternal and Child Health area.
The award will nurture young investigators who have a strong aptitude towards research and a desire to grow into independent principal investigators. The awardees will be expected to generate new hypothesis driven innovative research ideas in the area of maternal and child health and learn to drive a research process. The mandate will be to bridge epidemiology and biomedical research to develop robust interventions and solutions for maternal and child health. Extensive opportunities will be provided to learn data management, clinical research methodology and lab research methods. There will be mentoring by domain experts.
Over the course of the award period, the awardees will be engaged in the development and implementation of a research proposal in the maternal and child health area. For this purpose, mentorship will be provided by the faculty of THSTI in collaboration with the Pediatric Biology Centre. Opportunity to pursue PhD in the maternal and child health area will be provided for the awardees.
THSTI has established long standing collaborations with the nearby district hospital at Gurugram and effective inter-institutional alliances with other medical, engineering, biology centers across the country & overseas. The research process initiated by the awardee will be facilitated through these collaborations.
Ideas generated by the awardees that crystalize into specific projects will be credited in the form of some funding support, publications and other credits as decided by the institution.
Applications are invited from candidates interested in maternal and child health and holding any one of the following:
1. MBBS with MPH or PhD
2. MPH
3. MD
4. PhD in life sciences
The award is for a period of two years with emolument of INR 75,000 per month. The award will be primarily co-ordinated by the Pediatric Biology Centre of THSTI.
The shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview/interaction session. The awardees will be selected based on their academic and interview performance.
