National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as ‘Beri-Beri’ Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Within a short span of seven years, this unit blossomed into a "Deficiency Disease Enquiry" and later in 1928, emerged as full-fledged "Nutrition Research Laboratories" (NRL) with Dr. McCarrison as its first Director. It was shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.
Post : Junior Research Fellow
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the following positions under the project entitled: “Understanding the Role of Vitamin B12 in Diabetic Neurodegeneration: Implication of Protein Quality Control Processes" - funded by DBT and executing agency is NIN.
Essential Qualifications : Masters degree in Biochemistry/ Life Sciences/ Pharmacy from recognized University.
Desirable : Experience with Animal Experiments (Rat Model) and Cell Culture studies.
Nature of duties : Performing animal and lab experiments, Cell Culture, Biochemical & Molecular Biology methods.
Age : 30 years. Relaxed upper age limit by two years in case of women candidates.
Consolidated Emoluments : Rs. 16,000 + 30 % HRA per month fixed without any other allowances for 1st and 2nd year. Rs. 18,000 + 30% HRA per month fixed without any other allowances for third year.
Tenure : Initially upto one year, extendable to next 2 years based on the performance and release of funding by DBT.
Place of work : Biochemistry Division and NIN animal facility, NIN.
*Age Concession: Age relaxation is admissible in respect of Retrenched Government Employees, Departmental Candidates (including projects), and Ex-Servicemen in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Government from time to time. Age concession to the extent of service rendered in other research projects will also be admissible for experienced and skilled persons.
The candidates should bring all original certificates of educational qualifications (from SSC onwards), Experience, Aadhaar Card & Community Certificates along with one set of photocopies of the same duly attested (can be self attested) along with a passport size photograph for attending the Written Test/ Interview. No TA/ DA will be paid for attending the Written Test / Interview. The recruited project staff is eligible for leave as per rules and will have to give an undertaking before joining.
GENERAL CONDITIONS:
The conditions of employment will be the same as that of the project staff on contract basis. The candidates have no right to claim for any regular employment at this Institute. The Director & Appointing Authority has the right to accept/ reject any application without assigning any reason(s) and no correspondence in this matter will be entertained. Candidates applying for more than one post need to submit separate application for each post. Age, qualifications, etc., will be reckoned as on the date of written test/ interview.
Note: No electronic devices including Calculator and Mobile phones are allowed while entering venue except Pen/ Pencil eraser/ writing pad.
