With a coastline of about 3,500 miles, inland sources in Rajasthan and Little Rann of Kutch, and the rock salt mines in Mandi, India have possibilities of attaining a high position in salt production among the salt producing countries of the world. As is known, apart from being an indispensable item of food, salt is an important raw material for the manufacture of several heavy chemicals e.g. soda ash, caustic soda and chlorine. Besides, salt is used in food processing industries, such as fish curing, meat packing, dairy products and fruit and vegetable canning.

Post : Research Associate I

Applications are invited for Research Associate I (RA-I) to work in the research project entitled ‘Generation of energy from microalgal feedstock through CO2 capture from flue gases’

Salary: - Rs. 36000/- p.m. (fixed) Essential qualifications- PhD in Biological Sciences.

Desirable: Candidates having research experience in the relevant field will be preferred.

Job Requirement: Competence in isolation of microalgae and optimization of their media components for higher biomass and lipid production, stress physiology of microalgae, microalgal mass cultivation at pilot scale, lipid chemistry, maintenance of the axenic cultures, microalgal cultivation using flue gases, Downstream processing of microalgal biomass for oil extraction and biodiesel preparation, extraction and purification of high value products e.g. biopigments and PUFA from microalgal biomass.

General Conditions: 
Age: Should not be more than 35 years for RA-I on 4th April’ 2019 (Relaxation as per CSIR rules).  CSMCRI is a national research laboratory under CSIR, which is well equipped with research facilities of international standards.

Applications are invited from highly motivated individuals form highly motivated individuals for the position of Research associate, to work in the area of microalgal cultivation under a project funded by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi. 

Interested candidates meeting the above requirements may attend the written test followed by walk-in-interview with a copy of detailed biodata, original certificates along with their attested photocopies and a passport size photograph on 4th April’ 2019 at 9.30 A.M. at Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute, G B Marg, Bhavnagar-364002. 

The selection of candidates will be done by conducting a screening test followed by personal interview of the short listed candidates on the same day.  No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.  These posts are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.  It would, therefore, not confer any right/claim implicit or explicit for any candidate for claiming extension or absorption in CSMCRI/CSIR.
