Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) was established in the year 1989 as an autonomous institute under the administrative control of Govt. of Odisha. In 2002, it was taken over by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. The Prime Minister of India Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee dedicated the institute to the nation in July 2003. Institute of Life Sciences has a broad vision of carrying out high-quality multidisciplinary research in the area of life sciences. The goal is for overall development and betterment of human health, longevity, agriculture and environment. The stated mission of the institution is to work towards upliftment of the human society and generate skilled human resources for future India.

Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India invites applications from Indian Nationals to join in the following temporary position.

Research Associate (01 position for bioinformatics)

Fellowship: Rs. 47,000/- per month + @16%HRA

Eligibility and Selection: Ph. D. in Life Sciences / Bioinformatics, Computational biology / Pharmaco-informatics / Biotechnology. Experience in using Linux programming, shell scripts, R-studio NGS analysis package for NGS analysis.

Desirable: Experience of working with transcriptomics / RNA-seq and whole genome sequencing data would be preferred. Candidates having first author publication in peer-reviewed journal in above subject areas will be given preference during screening stage. Candidates who have submitted Ph.D. thesis and are waiting for viva voce may also apply. For such candidates, fellowship amount will be that of an SRF until he/she defends Ph.D. thesis.

Junior Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow (01position)

Fellowship: Rs. 31,000/- (JRF) and 35,000/- (SRF) per month + @16% HRA

Eligibility and Selection: Masters / Mtech. in Life sciences, Bioinformatics, Computational biology / Pharmaco-informatics / Biotechnology and allied branches and having secured 60% aggregate marks (50% for OBC/ST/SC) are eligible to apply. For SRF position two years of research experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates having national level exam qualification such as NET/GATE/GPAT qualification with experience in computational biology, Bioinformatics and working with Genomics data. Good knowledge of Linux programming is important.

Desirable: Bioconductor, R for analysis of NGS data and statistical analysis. Non-NET/GATE applicants the amount of fellowship will be as per Govt. of India norms.

Age Limit: As per GOI guideline.
