Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (Jammu, India), Medanta-Duke Research Institute (Gurgaon, India) and National Centre for Natural Product Research (University of Mississippi, USA) are planning to jointly organize a two day symposium on botanical drug development during 13-14 December, 2013, at MDRI, Gurgaon, India. Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) is a national Institute of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) of India, with primary focus of research on drug discovery from natural products (medicinal plants and microbial species). IIIM is a multi-disciplinary organization encompassing the natural products chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, microbiology, biotechnology and botanical sciences.
Objectives of the Symposium:
The symposium will provide Indian herbal drug / botanical / nutraceutical / dietary supplement industry and other R & D institutes involved in research on drug discovery and development, to present their strengths / approaches to the visiting scientists from various research / academic institutes, Industry and government regulatory authorities of United States of America. At the same time, the lectures by US-FDA officials will provide opportunity to learn regarding regulatory requirements for IND filing and New Drug Approval (NDA). Entrepreneurs from USA will educate on the requirements of botanical drug, quality parameters and economic impact.
In general the symposium would provide information on botanical raw materials, authentication, quality control, isolation of markers and standardization, bioevaluation, safety & toxicology studies, regulatory aspects of bioactive NCEs and botanicals / nutraceuticals, Industry-institute partnership for improving quality compliance.

Mode of Registration:
The symposium is being organized in collaboration with the National Centre for Natural Products Research (NCNPR), University of Mississippi, USA and Medanta-Duke Research Institute (MDRI), Gurgaon, India. The participation will be primarily on the basis of nomination / sponsorship from US-FDA, NIH and Indian R&D and manufacturing companies and regulatory authorities. Selected experts from India and abroad will be invited to deliver lectures in the areas listed above.
Students and young researchers may participate in the symposium by filling the Registration Form and paying a nominal registration fee, as mentioned below.

Total number of participants for poster presentation during the symposium will be restricted to 50 only.
Registration for poster presentation will be on first come first serve basis and would be conformed after peer review.
