One of the south India's great temple towns, Madurai is synonymous with the celebrated Meenakshi Temple. Situated on the banks of river Vaigai, Madurai has a rich cultural heritage passed on from the great Tamil era more than 2500 years old. Madurai was an important cultural and commercial centre even as early as 550 AD. Madurai is the seat of Tamil Sangam or Academy of learning. The entire city of Madurai is built around holy Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple.
Madurai is situated in close vicinity to a large number of tourist sites including hill resort of Kodaikanal, Periyar wildlife sanctuary (Thekkady) and Silent valley in the sprawling Western Ghats hill ranges, sea shore beaches at Kovalam and the centres of pilgrimage like Rameshwaram and Kanyakumari etc., which are visited by millions of tourists every year. The surroundings of Madurai are highly rich in flora and fauna, including insects and other arthropods, both of biomedical and economic importance.

ACCOMMODATION
Delegates will be accommodated in hotels on request. The city of Madurai has a large number of hotels with provision of international comfort. LETTER OF INVITATION
An official Letter of Invitation will be made available upon request by any participant to attend the JE conference. Such a letter will not automatically guarantee for any financial assistance, and is principally intended for securing official permission by the participants at their end.

A post-conference tour may be arranged to the hill resorts in the Western Ghats. An additional subscription will be desired. Details will be intimated on inquiry.
