It is classified as State Government Company and is registered at Registrar of Companies, Gwalior. Its authorized share capital is Rs. 20,00,00,000 and its paid-up capital is Rs. 10,00,00,000. It is involved in Human health activities. One of the key objectives of the MPPHSCL is to act as the central procurement agency for all essential drugs and equipment for all public healthcare institutions under the department.

Central Drug Testing Laboratory is one of the Seven National Laboratories in India engaged in the research and analysis of Drug and Cosmetics as per Drug and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
