YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARDS in THSTI

Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is an autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. THSTI is developed as a part of the interdisciplinary NCR Biotech Science Cluster located at Faridabad, in the National Capital Region. THSTI is designed as a dynamic, interactive organization with a mission to conduct innovative translational research and to develop research collaborations across disciplines and professions to translate concepts into tangible products to improve human health. The interim laboratories of the centre are functioning from Gurgaon in Haryana.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd announced the extension of its Imatinib Mesylate Savings Card programme beyond July 31, 2016. Sun Pharma launched this programme as part of the imatinib mesylate launch in February 2016. The programme is aimed at delivering greater access to the drug by patients who have commercial insurance, but whose out-of-pocket cost may exceed an affordable amount.

Pfizer Inc. announced the publication of a new post-hoc analysis of data from three studies of VYNDAQEL in patients with mild transthyretin familial amyloid polyneuropathy (TTR-FAP). The analysis, which included patients with the Val30Met mutation treated over varying periods of up to 5.5 years, showed that treatment with VYNDAQEL initiated during the early stage of the disease resulted in minimal neurological disease progression and in preservation of body weight, which often declines as the disease progresses. VYNDAQEL was well tolerated with no new safety signals observed.

The District is a residuary portion of the old Godavari District after West Godavari District was separated in 1925. As the name of the district conveys, East Godavari District is closely associated with the river Godavari, occupying a major portion of the delta area. The Headquarters of the District is located at Kakinada.
