In a breakthrough, scientists have identified a tiny molecule that forces the HIV virus to open up and expose its vulnerable parts, allowing the immune system to kill the infected body cells. The finding opens a new path in the fight against HIV and could ultimately lead to the design of a vaccine to prevent transmission of the virus, researchers said.

A  study revealed that Drinking sugar-sweetened beverages daily may increase the risk of Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).  Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the build up of extra fat in liver cells that is not caused by alcohol. It is normal for the liver to contain some fat. However, if more than 5% - 10% percent of the liver’s weight is fat, then it is called a fatty liver (steatosis).Sugar-sweetened beverages are a major dietary source of fructose, the sugar which is suspected of increasing risk of NAFLD because of how our bodies process it. The study appeared in the Journal of Hepatology.

The new system was developed exclusively with its partner company NANO 4 U. The blisters feature a NANO4U hologram stamp which can incorporate a hidden logo or code, as well as other covert and overt safety features.

A new study said that Botulinum toxin, commonly known as Botox could offer an effective new treatment for two forms of neuropathy, pain caused by different types of nerve injury. The study appeared in Anesthesia & Analgesia.

Multiplicom N.V., develops, manufactures and commercializes molecular diagnostic assays, launched two kits-- the BRCA Hereditary Cancer MASTR Plus kit and the BRCA Tumor MASTR Plus kit, to screen hereditary breast and ovarian cancers. The BRCA Hereditary Cancer MASTR kit detects germline variants in 26 genes associated with hereditary cancers and the BRCA Tumor MASTR Plus is used for detection of variants in BRCA1 and BRCA2 in tumour biopsy material.

The National Agriculture Commission (NAC) recommended establishment of Forest Development Corporations in each State to accelerate progress and development of forestry sector. Gujarat State Forest Development Corporation Limited ( GSFDC ) was established in August 1976 and registered under the Companies Act 1956. In 1979 the Minor Forest Produce (MFP) trade came to be nationalized in Gujarat . The Corporation was entrusted with the task of its execution. This meant translating on the ground the State Policy of protecting economic interest of STs, SCs and other weaker sections, while justifying its corporate status. This corporation gets no grants and budgetary support from the Government.
