Scientists identified a gene by whose mutation is linked to the development of an aggressive form of brain cancer. An error in a gene called TCF12 is associated with more aggressive forms of a disease called anaplastic oligodendroglioma. The TCF 12 is the genetic code for a protein that binds to DNA and controls the activity of other genes. The study published in the journal Nature Communications.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Novartis' Promacta (eltrombopag) for the treatment of children six years and older with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) who have had an insufficient response to corticosteroids, immunoglobulins or splenectomy. Promacta was approved by the FDA in 2008 for use in adult patients with the same condition.

The collaboration also enables both organizations to mutually leverage technologies and solutions. This upgradation by the USFDA from Official Action Indicated (OAI) to VAI is indicative of the cGMP status at the facility since receiving the warning letter in 2013.
