The University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Panjab University is a premier institution of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in the country. The institute has covered a long and glorious journey of 76 years starting from Lahore in 1944 and finally settling to the present campus in Chandigarh at the foothills of Himachal. In its travelogue, the institute crossed multiple milestones and continue to head ahead towards the well-defined goals. The elevation of the status from department to the level of an institute i.e. University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1994, and hosting of Indian Pharmaceutical Congress in the same year, two presidential honors of the Indian Pharmaceutical Congresses to its faculty members, a special recognition by the UGC by granting SAP in 1993 and COSIST in 1981 establishment of ICMR Advanced Centre for standardization of Drugs of Indian System of Medicine are some of the major hallmarks on the path treaded so far.
Post: Project Fellow (01 post)
Applications are invited for one post of Project Fellow at a monthly salary of Rs. 14,000/- (consolidated, for initial 2 years and Rs. 16,000 from third year onwards) in the University Grants Commission, New Delhi sponsored Research Project entitled “Cloning of a gene encoding pectinase from metagenomic DNA: Biochemical and biophysical characterization of the gene product” The project is tenable up to 31st March, 2016.

The interview shall be held on 24.07.2013 at 11.30 am in the office of the Chairman, Department of Biotechnology, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
No T.A. & D.A. are permissible for attending the interview. The rules and regulations as laid down by Panjab University and/or UGC, New Delhi will be applicable to the selected candidate.
Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, biochemistry or biophysics with at least 55% marks.
Desirable: Prior knowledge of gene cloning
Preference will be given to NET/SLET/GATE/Ph.D. (PU) entrance qualified candidates. The candidate should be below the age of 40 years at the time of appointment.
