The PGIMER owes its inception to the vision of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and the distinguished medical educationists of the then combined state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who considered the institutions of scientific knowledge as temples of learning and the places of pilgrimage. The institute started in 1962 and Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru inaugurated the hospital now named “Nehru Hospital” on 7th July 1963. The Institute was originally under the Government of undivided Punjab. After the reorganization of the state, the administrative control of the institute passed on to the Union Territory of Chandigarh in November 1966. The Institute became an autonomous body under the Act of Parliament in 1967 functioning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Applications are invited on plain paper for the contractual posts of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Senior Research Fellow (01) in the DBT funded project entitled "Hepatoprotective and Nephroprotective therapeutic validation of ethanomedicinal plants of NE India against cisplatin induced chemotherapeutic toxicity" under Dr. Bikash Medhi, Additional Professor, Department of Pharmacology, PGIMER, Chandigarh-160012. The post is purely on contract basis for one year.
1. Junior Research Feilow (01)
Qualification: First Class Master's Degree in Pharmacology/ Life- sciences from a recognized university.
Age: As per GOI rules
Pay scale: Rs.14,000/- per month plus HRA (20%)
2. Senior Research Fellow (01)
Qualification: First class Master's Degree in Pharmacology/Life- Sciences from a recognized university.
Experience: Two years researche experience after M.Sc. (Life sciences)
Age: As per GOI rules
Pay Scale: Rs. 18000/- per month plus HRA (20%)
The above appointment will be purely on contract basis for one year, likely to continue till the project is continued. Interested candidates fulfilling the above conditions are required to submit their bio-data and necessary testimonials/certificates by 26th December, 2013 in the Department of Pharmacology, Room No. 4043, Research Block B, 4th Floor, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
