The University of KwaZulu-Natal was formed on 1 January 2004 as a result of the merger between the University of Durban-Westville and the University of Natal. The new university brings together the rich histories of both the former Universities.

Applications are invited for a post doctoral research position in the Discipline of Pharmaceutical Sciences (College of Health Sciences) at University of KwaZulu-Natal (Durban, South Africa) on a project funded by UKZN Nanotechnology platform.
The successful applicant will be expected to engage in full-time post doctoral studies in the Novel Drug Delivery Unit headed by Prof Thirumala Govender.
The research project focuses on nano drug delivery systems to combat infectious diseases. The position is for 1 year and may be renewed for a second year, subject to satisfactory progress and availability of funding. Our research group is extremely supportive and encourages postdocs to apply for nationally competitive fellowships such as NRF Innovation postdocotoral fellowship to develop their profile. All assistance is provided to postdocs in our group who are interested in applying for these fellowships.
Candidate Profile
* A doctoral degree in Pharmaceutics obtained in the last five years;
* Experience in the following areas:
* Formulation and in vitro and biological evaluation of nano drug delivery systems
* Experience in working with small laboratory animals.
* Skills in nanotechnology and biomedical applications: zeta sizer, flow cytometry and confocal microscopy are highly recommended.
* A recent publication profile as first/senior author.
