Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology was established in the year 1987 as Regional Engineering College and was given the status of National Institute of Technology (Deemed University) by the Government of India on October 17, 2002 under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi. Now the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has declared the Institute as “Institute of National Importance” under the act of Parliament-2007.

The Ace unit of Ind Swift Limited was created in the year 2005 with an aim to globalize the Ind Swift brand for finished dosage forms. The manufacturing site catering to the demand of the developed international markets was commissioned in 2006. A record was created when two major regulatory approvals, one from MHRA, UK and the other from TGA, Australia were received for this site within a record time of the site being commissioned.

Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB) is an autonomous national institute under Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India). Institute of Nano Science and Technology (Department of Science and Technology, Government of India), Mohali (Punjab) is an autonomous research Institute focusing on R&D of specific areas in Nano Science and Technology leading to new phenomena, processes, products and devices.

National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali, Punjab is an autonomous R&D Institute under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. The institutional campus has been established on 35 acres of land in the Knowledge City, Sector-81, Mohali, (Punjab)-140306. The institute has mandate to strengthen research at the interface of Agricultural, Food processing and Nutritional sciences biotechnology.
