The Birla Institute of Technology was established in the year 1955 at Mesra, Ranchi, Jharkhand by the Philanthropist – Industrialist Mr. B.M. Birla with a vision to establish a world – class institution to cater Engineering, Technology, Pharmaceutical, Management and other allied sciences. The institute over last decade ranked well within top ten of the best Technical Universities of the country. The Institute offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral Programs.

BLDE University is amongst the reputed universities in Karnataka providing education in various medical courses. The National Institute of Technology, Durgapur (formerly Regional Engineering College, Durgapur), was established by an Act of Parliament in 1960 as one of the eight such colleges aimed to function as a pace setter for engineering education in the country and to foster national integration.It is a fully-funded premier Technological Institution of the Government of India and is administered by an autonomous Board of Governors.

The Government of West Bengal set up an expert committee on December 31, 1998, under the Chairmanship of Ashesh Prasad Mitra, Eminent Scientist to explore the necessity and scope for establishment of an Engineering / Technology University in the stste of West Bengal.

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) was created as a centre of excellence in imparting higher education, research and development in pharmaceutical sciences and is the first Institute of its kind in the country.

The P.G. programmes of the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi are aimed at training manpower with sound theoretical and experimental background in frontier areas of research in the engineering, applied sciences and interdisciplinary subjects. The emphasis is on understanding the scientific basis and engineering principles involved in solving problems of practical importance in the relevant field using multidisciplinary approach.

Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, a constituent of CSIR is a leading research Institute in the area of chemical sciences. It was established as Central Laboratories for Scientific and Industrial Research (CLSIR) in the year 1944 by the Nizam State and after independence it was brought under the CSIR as Regional Research Laboratory. It was rechristened as CSIR- IICT in the year 1989 as it acquired a national character.
