Pfizer Inc. announced top-line results of a Phase 3 study evaluating the efficacy and safety of LYRICA (pregabalin) Capsules CV in adults with chronic post-traumatic peripheral neuropathic pain. The study did not meet its primary efficacy endpoint.

Pfizer Inc. announced that PROFILE 1029, a Phase 3 study of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) inhibitor XALKORI® (crizotinib), met its primary objective of significantly prolonging progression-free survival (PFS) in previously untreated East Asian patients with ALK-positive advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) when compared to a standard chemotherapy doublet. In this study, XALKORI was used as the first systemic therapy for patients with advanced ALK-positive NSCLC, and patients could have received therapy and/or surgery for early stage disease before they were diagnosed with metastatic disease.

Pfizer Inc's subsidiary Hospira has secured an Indian patent for an improved process for the preparation of Cilastatin. Cilastatin is a chemical which acts with anti-biotic Imipenem for the treatment of infections in various body systems. Imipenem and Cilastatin are combined in a drug to make an anti-biotic.  It is used to treat serious infections that are mild to moderate in severity, such as lower respiratory infection and heart valve infection.

Pfizer, a Rs. 1,800 crore plus Indian subsidiary of Pfizer Inc. USA, has entered into a business transfer agreement for the transfer of the company’s business at the Thane plant to Vidhi Research and Development LLP for Rs. 178 crore. Upon the conclusion of the BTA, all current workmen at the plant shall be transferred to the buyer so as to facilitate manufacturing operations.

The Indian Patent Office has rejected American drug maker Pfizer's patents for its rheumatoid arthritis drug tofacitinib in India.

“After having considered the submissions submitted by the applicant (Pfizer) in the hearing, the written submission and amended claims filed as well as in view of the discussions and findings by me, it is hereby ordered that the invention disclosed and claimed in the instant application is not considered as an invention under the provisions of the Act”, said Bharat N S, assistant controller of patents & designs, Mumbai.
