The Vinayaka Mission’s College of Pharmacy (VMCP), Salem, established in the year 1982 is the pioneer institution of the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal (TKVTSS) Medical Educational and Charitable Trust. The college that started with the Diploma in Pharmacy program now also offers B.Pharm (from 1993), M.Pharm (from 2003) in 5 specializations, Pharm.D, Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) (from 2009) and the Doctoral Program in Pharmacy (from 2004). The college is a constituent college of Vinayaka Missions University, Salem and is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi. Several hundreds of students have graduated from the college successfully and are practicing the profession of Pharmacy across the globe and serving the community at large.

Shivaji University, established in 1962, is named after the Great Maratha Warrior and founder of the Maratha empire Chhatrapati Shivaji. It was inaugurated on 18th November, 1962 by Dr. Radhakrishnan, the then President of India. One of the major objectives behind foundation of this University was to cater to the regional needs of South Maharashtra. The jurisdiction of the University is spread over three districts viz.
