Retired Armed Forces personnel till 2002 could avail medical facilities only for specific high cost surgery/treatment for a limited number of diseases covered under the Army Group Insurance(Medical Branch Scheme) (AGI(MBS)) and Armed Forces Group Insurance Scheme(Management Information System) (AFGIS (MIS)) schemes. These medicare schemes could provide some relief to the ESM, but it was not a comprehensive scheme as compared to and available for other Central Government Employees.

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, the sixth member of the IIT fraternity, was established in 1994. The academic programme of IIT Guwahati commenced in 1995. National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education Research, Guwahati (NIPER-G) is an autonomous institute of National importance and the first national pharma institute in NE India set up by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India by an act of parliament, to impart high quality Education & Research in the area of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The Government of India has declared NIPER as an 'Institute of National Importance'. It is an autonomous body set up under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India.

NIPER-G desires to recruit Professors for the institute in various departments as detailed below.

As per Government of India UO No. O.IV-3/2020-Pers.II dated 03/05/2021 & 19/07/2021, CRPF has been declared as Nodal Force for conducting the selection process for filling up the vacancies in Paramedical Cadre in CAPFs & Assam Rifles from the retired CAPF as well as Ex-Armed force personnel for appointment on contractual basis for a period of one year against the vacancies available in Paramedical cadre.
