Name of the post Post Doctoral Research Associate (RA)

Name of the project “Modulation of the innate immune response by SUMOylation” funded by the Wellcome - Dept. of Biotechnology India Alliance.
Project Code 30710029

Minimum prescribed Educational Qualification and Experience: Ph.D. (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering or allied Sciences). Minimum 60% marks/equivalent grade at Masters Level.
The project aims to list the SUMO proteome of Drosophila. Candidates should have work experience in the areas of Drosophila genetics, Proteomics, genetic engineering or Biochemistry.

Preference Preference will be given to candidates with good academic / industry records and capable of managing a project independently.

Job Requirements Work with a team of graduate students and project assistants to demonstrate novel roles for the posttranslational modifier SUMO using Drosophila as a model system.
Fellowship Up to Rs 40,000/- per month consolidated based on academic record and work experience of the candidate.

Name of the project    "Integrin dependent regulation of membrane trafficking, role in anchorage dependence" funded by the Wellcome Trust - Dept. of Biotechnology India Alliance.
Project Code    NGRDBT-WT
Minimum prescribed Educational Qualification and Experience: Ph.D. (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering or allied Sciences). Minimum 60% marks/equivalent grade at Masters Level. The project aims to study how adhesion regulates in particular caveolar endocytic trafficking to regulate growth signaling.  It will also focus on the role this has   in   anchorage   independence   in   cancers. Candidates should have work experience in the areas of cell biology, tissue culture, biochemistry and genetic engineering experience will be valuable.

Preference    Preference will be given to candidates with good academic / industry records and capable of managing a project independently.
Job Requirements    Work with a team of graduate students and project assistants to demonstrate how adhesion dependent regulation of caveolar endocytosis regulates anchorage dependence.

Fellowship    Up to Rs 40,000/- per month consolidated based on academic record and work experience of the candidate.

Job Requirements    Maintaining Drosophila cultures, making fly media. Setting up immune Challenge and then measuring transcript levels of Defense genes using different molecular tools.

Fellowship    Rs12,000/- to Rs16,000/- per month consolidated + 20% HRA as admissible based on academic record and work experience of the candidate.

Please mention name of the Post and Project Code in the subject line. The list of the shortlisted candidates for interviews with details of date, time and venue will be put up on the Institute website under this advertisement and candidates will be informed by email only.

The interviews for the Project Assistant positions will be held in the first week of July (tentatively 8th or 15th July, 2011), while those for the Post-Doctoral/ Research Associate positions will be based on availability of the candidate.
The print out of the prescribed application form sent to us by email signed and dated by the applicant along with recent passport size photograph and photocopies of relevant certificates and other testimonials in support of age, qualification, caste, experience etc. will be collected at the time of interview. Applicant has to bring all the original certificates at the time of interview for the purpose of verification, along with one set of photocopies.

General Information / details about the posts
1.    Appointment is purely temporary and will terminate automatically without any notice or compensation on termination of the project.
2.    Applicants willing to apply for multiple positions need to send separate applications.
3.    The appointed person shall have no claim of appointment / absorption in Funding Agency or in IISER Pune.
4.    Appointment of the applicant will be governed by the terms and conditions of the funding agency particularly applicable to the said project
5.    The qualification prescribed should have been obtained from recognized Universities / Institutions.
6.    The prescribed educational qualifications are the bare minimum and mere possession of same does not entitled candidates to be called for interview. Where number of applications received in response to this advertisement is large, it will not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates. Based on the recommendations of the Screening Committee, the Project Leader may restrict the number of candidates to be called for the interview to a reasonable limit after taking into consideration qualifications and experience over and above the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates, to mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field at the time of applying.
7.    No TA/DA will be admissible for appearing for the interview.
8.    Selected candidates will have to join duty immediately on receipt of the offer.
9.    Reservation as per Govt. of India norms will be followed.
10.    No interim enquiries / correspondence / communication of any sort will be entertained on the matter.
11.    Canvassing in any form and / or bringing any influence, political, or otherwise, will be treated as a disqualification for the post applied for.
