Cell Biology Lab was inaugurated at Kumar Organic Products Research Centre on 15th November 2023 by Prof. Dr. Samir K Brahmachari , Former Director General, CSIR.

Rajanandam, Independent Director-KOPL,Mr. Udayan Kumar Singh, Managing Director, Dr. Maya Paul-AGM, Mr. Vinay Kumar Singh, Head-Formulation, Dr.Shatrughan Prasad Sahi, SGM, & Dr. Binod Kumar, Deputy Manager of Kumar Organics.
Kumar Organic has been producing and marketing Bioferments & Specialty ingredients for Skin & Hair Care Products. Cell Biology lab has been created to conduct various tests on their ingredients to prove its worth.
The Cell biology lab is equipped to work on skin cells and can carry out research in skin biology aimed at developing cosmetic substantiation tests and innovative investigative models. By delving into cell based assays, the lab sheds light on safety and efficacy of Cosmetics Formulations, offering invaluable insights and paving the way for safer, more effective products.
Cultures of human skin cells would be used in tests investigating irritation of the skin and the test models can evaluate skin regeneration efficacy, melanogenic tests, Anti-inflammatory tests, UV Protection assays, Anti-allergic assays, Keratinocytes proliferation assays, Human dermal papilla cell assays, Collagen synthesis assay, Hyaluronic acid production assays etc. apart from cytotoxicity and genotoxicity tests.
Experimenting on human cell cultures presents the advantage of eliminating animal studies for the determination of the biological action of a substance and for evaluating its dose/response effect.
