Price regulator NPPA reviewed the maximum prices for five programmed drug formulations used in the treatment of various ailments, including seizures, epilepsy and allergic rhinitis, among others.

National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) said it has revised the prices of Phenobarbitone tablet 30 mg, sodium valproate tablet 200 mg, Pheniramine injection 22.75 mg/ml of 2 ml pack, pheniramine injection 22.75 mg/ml of 10 ml pack and adrenaline injection of 1mg/ml.

As stipulated under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order (DPCO) 2013, the NPPA fixes ceiling price of essential medicines of Schedule I.

The government had notified DPCO 2013, which covers 680 formulations, with effect from May 15, 2014, replacing the 1995 order that regulated prices of only 74 bulk drugs.
