Japanese pharmaceutical industry comprising of both multinationals and generic companies, have shown keen interest in working with the Indian counterparts in contract manufacturing service space.

The commerce ministry has decided to take a trade delegation to Japan in mid July. The main motive behind this move is to promote APIs, contract manufacturing and generic capabilities of India. This contract will strengthen the relation between Japan and India. Japan remains a tough market for Indian drug manufacturers. Stringent regulations have made the Japanese market averse to buying Indian generics. These developments materialized following the recently concluded India pharma summit that was held in Osaka and Tokyo in the sidelines of CPhI Japan.

Pharmexcil and commerce ministry understand the full potential of the Japanese market and all possible measures will be taken by them to support and enhance business opportunities there.
