Functioning under the aegis of Nirma Education and Research Foundation (established in 1994), the university presently includes of a top grade – Institute of Technology (1995), a leading b-school – Institute of Management (1996), an innovative Institute of Diploma Studies (1997), an upcoming Institute of Pharmacy (2003), Institute of Science (2004) and emerging Institute of Law (2007).  All these institutions have emerged as centers of excellence offering various programmes ranging from undergraduate to doctoral levels in technology, engineering, business, pharmacy and sciences.
Considering the quality of education being provided, the Government of Gujarat established the Nirma University under Act No. 10 passed by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Gujarat in April 2003.  This development witnessed the merging of all Institutes under the NERF into a single entity of Nirma University.  The university has also been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the section 2 (f) of the UGC Act.

Qualifications
Professor
* Bachelors and Masters Degree in Pharmacy with First Class or equivalent either in Bachelors or Masters Degree and Ph.D. or equivalent, in appropriate discipline
* Post Ph.D. publications and guiding Ph.D. students is highly desirable.
* Minimum 10 years teaching/ research/ industrial experience of which at least 5 years should be at the level of Associate Professor.
OR
Minimum of 13 years experience in teaching and/or Research and/or Industry.
* In case of research experience, good academic record and books/ research paper publications / IPR/ Patents record shall be required as deemed fit by the expert members of the Selection committee.
* If the experience in industry is considered, the same shall be at managerial level equivalent to Associate Professor with active participation record in devising/ designing, planning, executing, analyzing, quality control, innovating, training, technical books/research paper publications /IPR / patents, etc as deemed fit by the expert members of the selection committee.

Associate Professor
* Bachelors and Masters Degree in Pharmacy with First Class or equivalent either in Bachelors or
Masters Degree and Ph.D. or equivalent in appropriate discipline.
* Post Ph.D. publications and guiding Ph.D. students is highly desirable
* Minimum of 5 years experience in teaching/ research/ industry of which 2 years post Ph.D. experience is desirable.

Assistant Professor
* Bachelors and Masters Degree in Pharmacy with First Class or equivalent either in Bachelors or Masters Degree

Perks

1. Medical Facilities:
As Indoor Patient: The medical reimbursement facilities as indoor patient are provided as per the norms prescribed by the University subject to the limit ranging between 4.00 lacs to 5.00 lacs per annum depending on categories of post.

2. Reimbursement of Expenditure of Children Education Allowance: All the employees will be paid Rs. 750/- p.m. or actual, whichever is less, for their children studying up to 11th and 12th. Rs. 1000/- p.m. or actual, whichever is less, for their children studying at higher education i.e. above std. 12th.

3. Other Perks:
(a) Reimbursement of expenditure towards Books, Subscription of journals etc. as per University rules.
(b) Reimbursement towards expenditure done due to relocation as per University rules.
