North-Eastern Hill University was set up by an Act of Parliament and notified on 19th July 1973. The objectives of the University, as laid down in the act, are "to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit; to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of the hill areas of the North-eastern region, and in particular, the intellectual, academic and cultural advancement".

Applications on plain paper with bio-data and attested copies of all relevant documents are invited for the following posts in the DBT funded research project entitled “Insect hormones and insulin signaling in silkworm, Bombyx mori under fed and starved conditions: a study at molecular level” sanctioned to Dr. Bela Keshan, Department of Zoology, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong – 793022.
Qualifications: M.Sc. in Zoology/Life Sciences. Candidates with DBT–JRF or NET and working experience in Molecular Biology techniques will be preferred.
Duration: Three Years
Emolument: Rs.12000/- per month for the 1st and 2nd year and Rs. 14000/- per month for the 3rd year plus 10% HRA (Rs. 16000/- per month for the 1st and 2nd year and Rs. 18000/- per month for the 3rd year plus 10% HRA for NET qualified)
