The University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Panjab University is a premier institution of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in the country. The institute has covered a long and glorious journey of 76 years starting from Lahore in 1944 and finally settling to the present campus in Chandigarh at the foothills of Himachal. In its travelogue, the institute crossed multiple milestones and continue to head ahead towards the well-defined goals. The elevation of the status from department to the level of an institute i.e. University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1994, and hosting of Indian Pharmaceutical Congress in the same year, two presidential honors of the Indian Pharmaceutical Congresses to its faculty members, a special recognition by the UGC by granting SAP in 1993 and COSIST in 1981 establishment of ICMR Advanced Centre for standardization of Drugs of Indian System of Medicine are some of the major hallmarks on the path treaded so far.

Essential Qualifications:
JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW: M.Sc. Degree in Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Microbial Biotechnology with at least 55% marks and NET or NET (LS) qualified. Preference will be given to those with experience in Industrial Enzymology/Fermentation Technology
RESEARCH ASSOCIATE: Ph.D degree in Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Microbial Biotechnology having experience in Industrial Enzymology/ Biotechnology of Biomass conversion/ Fermentation Technology/ Ethanol production
Salary:
Junior Research Fellow: Rs. 16,000+HRA for NET-JRF qualified.
Rs. 12,000+HRA for NET qualified for lectureship.
In case NET qualified candidates are not available, those who have qualified PU Ph.D Entrance Test in the subject of Microbiology may be considered for the position of a PROJECT FELLOW @ Rs. 10,000/- (Fixed).
Research Associate: Rs. 22,000 + HRA.

Applications are invited for the positions of a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and a Research Associate (RA) in a DBT, Ministry of Science & Technology, New Delhi sponsored project on “BIOREFINERY FOR COST EFFECTIVE BIOETHANOL PRODUCTION FROM BIODEGRADABLE MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE: TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND ITS VALIDATION AT PILOT SCALE” to be executed in the Department of Microbiology, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The duration of the project is three years.
