North-Eastern Hill University was set up by an Act of Parliament and notified on 19th July 1973. The objectives of the University, as laid down in the act, are "to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit; to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of the hill areas of the North-eastern region, and in particular, the intellectual, academic and cultural advancement".

Applications are invited for the posts of Two Junior Research Fellows in a Ministry of Environment & Forests sponsored project on "Taxonomy of Indian Freshwater Cladocera (Crustacea: Branchiopoda) with special emphasis on faunal and ecosystem diversity in different states of North Eastern India” sanctioned to Prof. B. K. Sharma, Department of Zoology, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong-793022.

The project involves extensive field work in different parts of India including different states of northeast India. Only the candidates with aptitude in taxonomic research and interest in field surveys need apply.
Qualifications:
M.Sc in Zoology, preferably with NET
Experience in Aquatic Biology / Limnology / Taxonomy / Fisheries
