The National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), Thiruvananthapuram, a premier Institute of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India is engaged in five broad areas of research namely (i) Agroprocessing & Natural Products, (ii) Biotechnology, (iii) Chemical Sciences & Technology, (iv) Materials & Minerals and(v) Process Engineering & Environmental Technology. NIIST offers excellent infrastructure support, start-up research funding along with a vibrant environment to perform research in a unique interdisciplinary environment, wherein scientists enjoy a mix of individual freedom and collective scientific support to undertake research of international quality. The institute plans to induct 21 scientists with proven capabilities in the respective areas as indicated by high quality publications, patents etc. at various levels, and is on the lookout for young researchers with fresh ideas, innovative viewpoints and willingness to work hard The appointed candidates are expected to be capable of conducting independent research and play lead role in the relevant CSIR programmes in terms of infrastructure creation and knowledge generation.
