The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development require Ph.D –JRF positions

The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) is one of the autonomous institutes under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. The objective of IBSD is to develop and utilize the rich bioresources of the Northeastern Region of the country through the application of modern tools of biology and biotechnology. The institute invites application for 1) Ph. D. JRF, 2) One Senior Accounts Officer and expression of interest for providing Consultancy on Natural Product Chemistry Research of the Institute. The details are as follows:

Post: Ph.D –JRF positions

Broad area of research at the Institute is Plant Bioresources and Microbial Bioresources. Selected candidates shall be eligible for the monthly stipend and annual contingency grant which will be higher than that of normal fellowship programmes.

Eligibility and other details:
Candidates shall be eligible for registration in an ongoing programme of research in
IBSD leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), if he/she has obtained 55% marks in aggregate (B or B+ only in the 10 point scale) in the Master’s Degree Examination.
A candidate belonging to SC/ST who has obtained 50% marks in aggregate in Master Degree examination shall be eligible for registration.
Admission to the PhD programme shall be done in the month of December 2010.
The programme will start on 1st week of January.
Candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC NET/DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF/ICAR-JRF examination are eligible for direct interview.

Selection procedure:
If number of CSIR-UGC NET/DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF/ICAR-JRF qualified applicants are more than the available PhD positions, selection will be based on only interview with the NET/JRF qualified candidates.
In case sufficient NET/JRF qualified applicants are not available, shortlisted candidates (without NET/JRF but good academic records) may be called to appear for a written entrance test on 6th December 2011 at IBSD, at their own expenses.
Institute’s written test qualified and or NET/JRF qualified candidates shall be informed on same day to appear for an interview on 8th December 2011 at IBSD, Imphal.

Selected candidates will be informed to join the PhD programme of IBSD within a week time from the date of announcement of result. Candidates are requested to refer to the Institutes website (www.ibsd.gov.in) for Application Form and PhD Notifications.

Application procedure (should be followed strictly):
1. Application should be typed on A4-size plain paper in the prescribed format. Applications sent by e-mail with scan copy of required enclosures will also be accepted and such application should be sent to the following email address: director.ibsd@nic.in
2. Each page of the typed application form should be SIGNED by the candidate. Application without signature of the candidate will be rejected.
3. No application Fee will be charged by the Institute.
4. Applications should be accompanied by attested copies of certificates and mark sheets mentioning the division obtained.
5. TWO recent passport size photographs should be enclosed. One of these should be signed by the candidate and pasted on the application form.
6. A self-addressed stamped (Rs. 10/-) envelop of 10cm x 22cm should be enclosed.
7. Hard copy of the duly filled applications should be sent to ‘THE DIRECTOR, INSTITUTE OF BIORESOURCES AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, TAKYELPAT, IMPHAL-795001 so as to reach on or before 30th November, 2011.
8. The candidates must provide their mobile number and correct email address as most of the correspondence will be done by these media due to shortage of time.
9. Incomplete applications and those received after the closing date will not be entertained. The decisions of the Admission Committee will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
