Imperial College London, The Division of Cancer is a 300-strong group of scientists, doctors and technical staff engaged in basic and translational cancer research. The Imperial College London Cancer Research UK Cancer Centre has recently been established to enhance cross-faculty collaboration and will support high quality multidisciplinary science. The Division aims to better develop our understanding of cancer and to develop new therapies and biomarkers that will make a significant impact on patient care in the short to medium term and in so doing, will also train the next generation of cancer scientists.
Post: Research Associate
A major aim of the Division is breast cancer biology. As part of a new Cancer Research UK funded 5-year programme grant based in the Cancer Centre, an exciting opportunity has arisen to carry out research on molecular mechanisms of breast cancer progression and the development of new therapeutic agents for the treatment of breast cancer. The post-holder will be expected to help co-ordinate the multidisciplinary effort on this project and work towards developing an independent programme of research.
This Research Associate position will investigate mechanisms of nuclear receptor action in breast cancer, particularly centred on chromatin immunoprecipitation and microarray studies to identify target genes and will be involved in the development of new inhibitors of nuclear receptors implicated in breast cancer, their evaluation as cancer therapeutics and subsequent preclinical development. The post holder will be expected to help co-ordinate this multidisciplinary effort towards an independent programme of research.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent qualification in biochemistry, pharmacology or a related subject.
