The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology (Government of India) has established the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), an autonomous institution, as a part of the interdisciplinary Biotech Science Cluster at Faridabad in the National Capital Region. The permanent laboratories of THSTI will come up at Faridabad over the next two years. Interim facilities are functioning from Gurgaon. The institution is designed with a mission to conduct innovative translational research. The other members of the cluster include the Regional Center for Biotechnology (RCB) under the aegis of UNESCO. THSTI has set up niche centres of research in a number of interface areas relevant to translational research.
We are looking for a leader for Centre for Biodesign and Diagnostics at the level of Dean. The Centre for Biodesign and Diagnostics will promote strategic basic research and an effective translational route of science into development and innovation in novel technology platforms and innovation leading to development of implants, devices, diagnostics, drug delivery and imaging. Major areas of research will be protein and antibody engineering, detection technologies and concepts, nucleic acid diagnostics, new clinical markers, decentralized diagnostics (Point-of-Care), bio-organic chemistry based diagnostic technologies, bio-affinity test concepts and systems, micro-fluidics, miniaturization, different reporter alternatives, multiplexing and bio-banking. In the area of implants and devices, it will help in developing engineering concept in designing medical implants and devices, prototype development, verification/ validation, safety, regulatory requirements and performance of the final product. The Biodesign Centre is linked closely to an alliance of medical, biological and engineering institutes.
