The Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GOI has sanctioned a proposal for “Centre of Excellence in Dravyaguna and Medicinal Plants at Research Institute in ISM, Joginder Nagar, Distt. Mandi” submitted by the Department of Ayurveda amounting to Rs. 5.00 crore. The Society for Development of Vanaspati Van, H.P. has been identified as executing agency of this project.
This centre will work for quality standardization of medicinal plants and the studies relating to agronomy and cultivation of medicinal plants. The tissue culture activity would also be supported under the project. The project envisages the establishment of national herbarium and museum on trans-Himalayan plants and also acts a repository of standardized plant material as per Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India. The centre will associate with the related educational institutions on Ayurveda for award of PG Diploma/ degree in Dravyaguna/ Medicinal Plants/ Trainings/ CME.
Under the said project, following posts on contract basis based at Joginder Nagar, Distt. Mandi are to be filled up:-
1. One post of Project Investigator (Dravyaguna Expert), with emoluments Rs. 22200 + DA as applicable
(Present amount 15600+6600+58% DA=35076/- per month)
2. One post of Pharmacognist with emoluments Rs. 14700 + DA as applicable
(Present amount 10300+4400+ DA @58%=23226/- per month)
3. One post of Technician with emoluments Rs. 8710 + DA as applicable (Present amount 5910+2800+ DA @58%=13762/- per month)
The essential qualifications and other conditions for these posts are as follows.
2. Pharmacognist: 1
Scale of pay = Rs. 10300-34800+4400 (GP)
(Total emoluments=Rs. 14700 + DA (as applicable) per month+annual increment as per Govt. norm)
A) Essential qualification:
i) M. Pharma.
ii) Three years
B) Desirable qualification:
i) Specialization in Pharmacognosy or Phytochemistry.
ii) Experience in medicinal substances of biological origin especially obtained from plants, their composition, pharmacokinetics, therapeutic use and toxicology.
iii)Knowledge of customs, manner, dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the Pradesh.
Age for direct recruitment: Not less than 21 years and not more than 65 years.
Terms & conditions:
(a) The Pharmacognist appointed on contract basis will be paid contractual emolument of Rs. 14700 + DA (as applicable)+annual increment as per Govt. norm for the subsequent year(s). The service of the contract Appointee will be purely on temporary basis. The appointment is liable to be terminated in case the performance/ conduct of the contract appointee is not found satisfactory.
(b) Contractual appointment shall not confer any right to incumbent for the regularization in service at any stage.
(c) Contract appointee will be entitled for one day casual leave after putting one month service. This leave can be accumulated up to one year. No leave of any other kind is admissible to the contract appointee. He/She shall not be entitled for Medical Re- imbursement and LTC etc. only maternity leave will be given as per rules.
(d) Unauthorized absence from the duty without the approval shall automatically lead to the termination of the contract. Contract Appointee shall not be entitled for contractual amount for the period of absence from duty.
(e) Selected candidate will have to submit a certificate of his/her fitness from Medical Board constituted by the Chief Medical Officer. Women candidate pregnant beyond 12 weeks will render her temporarily unfit till the confinement is over. The women candidate will be re- examined for the fitness from Govt. Hospital.
(f) Contract appointee will be entitled for TA/DA if required to go on tour in connection with his/her official duties at the same rate as applicable at the minimum of the Pay scale.
(g) Provisions of service rules like FR,SR Leave Rules, GPF Rules, Pension Rules & Conduct Rules etc. as are applicable in case of regular employee will not be applicable in case of contract appointees.

i) Knowledge of computer applications.
ii) Knowledge of customs, manner, dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for
appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the Pradesh.
Age for direct recruitment: 18 to 45 years.
Terms & conditions:
(a) The Technician appointed on contract basis will be paid contractual emolument of Rs. 8710+ DA (as applicable)+annual increment as per Govt. norm for the subsequent year(s). The service of the contract Appointee will be purely on temporary basis. The appointment is liable to be terminated in case the performance/ conduct of the contract appointee is not found satisfactory.
