Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, popularly known as CIMAP, is a frontier plant research laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Established originally as Central Indian Medicinal Plants Organisation (CIMPO) in 1959, CIMAP is steering multidisciplinary high quality research in biological and chemical sciences and extending technologies and services to the farmers and entrepreneurs of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) with its research headquarter at Lucknow and Research Centres at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pantnagar and Purara. CIMAP Research Centres are aptly situated in different agro-climatic zones of the country to facilitate multi-location field trials and research. A little more than 50 years since its inception, today, CIMAP has extended its wings overseas with scientific collaboration agreements with Malaysia. CSIR-CIMAP has signed two agreements to promote bilateral cooperation between India and Malaysia in research, development and commercialization of MAP related technologies.

Position No. 1: Principal Scientist (Biotechnology) in Pay Band-4 Rs.37400-67000 + GP 8700 (01 Post Unreserved-UR)
Essential Qualification: Ph.D. in the area of Plant Biotechnology / Plant Molecular Biology and three years postdoctoral research experience in related area.
Desirable Qualification: Six years of postdoctoral research experience in Plant Molecular Biology and Biochemistry with publications and proven experience.
Job Requirement: To work in the area of Biotechnology. The placement may be at CIMAP Research Centre, Bangalore.

Essential Qualification: Ph.D. submitted in the area of Bioinformatics for Scientist OR Ph.D.in the area of Bioinformatics with two years of research experience for Senior Scientist.
Desirable Qualification: Two years of postdoctoral research experience in Bioinformatics/Biochemistry with publications and proven experience in Computational Biology and wet-lab experience.
Job Requirement: To work in the area of Bioinformatics and Biochemistry including sequence analysis, genome-wide analysis, protein docking studies and molecular dynamics, in-silico analysis including proteins and small molecule interactions and protein-ligand dynamic studies, predicted gene validation. The placement may be at CIMAP Research Centre, Bangalore.

Essential Qualification : ME/M.Tech. in Computer Science/Information Technology for Scientist OR ME/M.Tech in Computer Science/Information Technology with minimum three years research experience in related area for Senior Scientist.
Desirable Qualification: Three years Experience in the area of Networking,LAN/WAN management & its Security, Server & System administration, Software Development using .net Technologies, Knowledge of Database administration (Oracle/MS SQL Server), ERP applications and computerization activities, Virtual Private Network (VPN), knowledge of active directory implementation, virtualization techniques, SAN management etc. and/or Geographical Information System (GIS) related areas.
Job Requirement : To help in implementation of ERP applications, rolling of the NKN(National Knowledge Network) initiative of CSIR at CIMAP and its Research Centres, automation and digitization of Knowledge Resource Center and help in computerization and workflow management of PME, ICT, HR and implementation of RS-GIS projects.
Age limit : Upto 32 years for Scientist / 37 years for Senior Scientist. GENERAL CONDITIONS:
(1) All the posts carry usual allowances at the same rates as are admissible to the Central Government employees at the place of posting. Higher start may be given to exceptionally meritorious and deserving candidates.
(2) The selected candidates will be governed by the provisions of the New Pension Scheme as introduced by the Government of India and as adopted by CSIR effective from 01.01.2004.
(3) Relaxation in age limit, qualification and/or experience may be considered as per CSIR Scientist Recruitment and Assessment Promotion (CSR&AP) Rules, 2001 and subsequent amendments from time to time
(4) Persons employed in Government / Government undertakings / Autonomous bodies are required to submit their applications through proper channel and with a clear certificate from respective employee that the applicant will be relieved in case of selection, within one month of receipt of offer of appointment.
(5) Persons desirous to apply for more than one post may submit separate application for each post with separate application fee.
(6) The selected persons should be ready to serve at any of the offices/Resource Centre of CIMAP located at Lucknow, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pantnagar, Purara (Distt. Bageshwar) or at any place of posting in India.
(7) Upper age limit is relaxable as indicated against the post.
(8) Relaxation in age limit up to five years may be allowed to the Council/Government/ Autonomous Bodies/Public Sector employees in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the Government of India from time to time in this regard.
(9) The upper age limit will be reckoned as on 31.08.2011 which is relaxable as per Government orders in force from time to time.
(10) The period of experience in the requisite discipline/area of work wherever prescribed, shall be counted with effect from the date of acquiring the prescribed minimum educational qualifications required for the post.
(11) The cut off date for determining the qualification and experience of a candidate will be the last date of receipt of applications.
(12) The physically handicapped persons fulfilling the prescribed qualifications and experience are also encouraged to apply.
(13) Mere fulfillment of essential educational qualifications & experience does not entitle a candidate to be called for Interview. The decision of CIMAP/CSIR in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, mode of selection, conduct of interview will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained in this connection from any candidate or his/her agency.

Size, indicating number of Advertisement, Position No. and Name of the post applied for, affixing a postal stamp worth Rs. 10/- by 24th August, 2011.
