North-Eastern Hill University was set up by an Act of Parliament and notified on 19th July 1973. The objectives of the University, as laid down in the act, are "to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit; to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of the hill areas of the North-eastern region, and in particular, the intellectual, academic and cultural advancement".

Applications on plain paper along with complete Biodata and copies of certificates/ testimonials are invited for Two Junior Research fellowships under the DAE-BRNS project “Kinetics and mechanism of uptake, translocation and accumulation of natural uranium and fission product 137Cs in plants” as per the details below:

Post: Junior Research Fellow

Number of positions: Two

Funding agency: DAE-BRNS

Qualifications: M.Sc with minimum of 55% marks in Botany/Plant Molecular Biology/ Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Agriculture/Chemistry. Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examinations are also eligible to apply but the decision on their application shall be subject to they acquiring the requisite qualification before the date of interview.

Emoluments: Rs. 16000.00 p.m + HRA as per NEHU rules

Applications to be submitted to Prof. N. K. Chrungoo, PI, DAE-BRNS project, Dept. of Botany, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong- 793 022 within three weeks of the date of the Advertisement

The guidelines, emoluments and general service rules for the staff sanctioned will be as per the DAE office memorandum No. 10/2/2009/fellowship/R&D-II/6093 dated 30 June 2010.
Only short-listed candidates will be called for the interview and they will have to attend the interviews at their own cost.
