The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. CSIR covers the entire spectrum of scientific and industrial research of national and international importance. The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) is one of the constituent national laboratories of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) and a premier scientific institute that conducts high quality research in frontier and multi-disciplinary areas of modern biology. CCMB invites applications in the prescribed application form for the following posts from Indian citizens as per the qualifications and other details mentioned against the posts.

Post: Senior Principal Scientist, Principal Scientist, Senior Scientist, Scientist

(1) POST CODE NO. 01: Conservation Biology and Ecology: 01 POST [UNRESERVED]

Desirable: Outstanding academic and proven research record with evidence of independent research work in the areas of Ecology, Conservation Biology and Biodiversity with publications in front line journals related to the above research areas.

Job Specifications: The above position is at Group/Project Leader's level and thus requires individuals who have the capacity to generate and execute new ideas and take them to fruition. Ability to interact with research groups and coordinate activities of junior scientists would be very essential.

(2) POST CODE NO. 02: Nanobiotechnology: 01 POST [UNRESERVED]

Desirable: Outstanding academic and proven research record in interface areas of physics, chemistry and biology such as application of microfluidic devices in biology with publications in front line journals related to the above research areas.

Job Specifications: The above position is at Group/Project Leader's level and thus requires individuals who have the capacity to generate and execute new ideas and take them to fruition. Ability to interact with research group.

(3) POST CODE NO. 03: Mass Spectroscopy and proteonomics: 01 POST [UNRESERVED]

Desirable: Outstanding academic and proven research record in the areas of mass spectroscopy and cellular proteomics with publications in front line journals. Preference will be given to candidate/s having experience in the areas of proteomics and application of mass spectroscopy in the analysis of peptides and proteins.

(4) POST CODE NO 04: Plant development: 01 POST [UNRESERVED]

Desirable: Outstanding academic and proven research record in the areas of plant development with publications in front line journals. Preference will be given to candidate/s having experience in the areas of proteomics and application of mass spectroscopy in the analysis of peptides and proteins.

(5) POST CODE NO 05: Gene regulation using eukaryotic models: 01 POST [UNRESERVED]

Desirable: Outstanding academic and proven research record in the relevant areas with publications in front line journals. Preference will be given to candidate/s having experience in the areas related to regulation of cellular metabolism and gene expression in model systems.

(6) POST CODE NO 06A: Biochemistry and cell biology: 02 POST [UR]
POST CODE NO 06B: Biochemistry and cell biology: 02 POST [SC*]

Desirable: Outstanding academic and proven research record in the areas of stem cell biology, structural biology, bioinformatics, interface area of physics, chemistry and biology with publications in front line journals.

Job Specification: The incumbent is required to undertake research in the above mentioned areas and participate in institutional research programmes.

General Information and conditions:
Benefits under Council service:
a.  These posts carry usual allowances i.e. Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA) etc. as admissible to the central government employees and as made applicable to CSIR. Council employees are also eligible for accommodation of their entitled type as per CSIR allotment rules depending on availability in which case HRA will not be admissible.
b. Scientists in Pay Band-3 are also eligible for 2 additional increments (without DA) and Professional update allowance of Rs. 10000/- per annum.
c. Scientists in Pay Band-4 are also eligible for 2 additional increments (without DA) and Professional update allowance of? 20000/- per annum.
d. In addition to the emoluments indicated against each category of posts, benefits such as New Pension Scheme, reimbursement of Medical Expenses, Leave Travel Concession, Conveyance advance and House Building Advance are available as per rules of CSIR.
e. Scientists in CSIR are also permitted to undertake consultancy and sponsored R&D project activity. These activities give them scope to earn consultancy fee and honorarium as per guidelines governing these activities. Opportunities also arise for foreign deputations for training/presentation of papers/specific assignments etc.
f. CSIR provides excellent opportunities to deserving candidates for career advancement under Assessment Promotion scheme for Scientists.

Relaxation:
a.    The date of determining the age limit/experience/qualification shall be the closing date prescribed for receipt of printout of online applications i.e. 15.03.2013.
b.    The upper age limit is however, relaxable upto 5 years for SC/ST and 03 years for OBC as per Government orders in force only in those cases where the posts are reserved for respective categories, on production of relevant certificate in the prescribed format signed by the specified authority at the time of interview.
