National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) under the aegis of Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (Department of Pharmaceuticals), Govt, of India, is an institute of National Importance created by an Act of Parliament devoted to the promotion of pharmaceutical education and research. The Institute is located at SAS Nagar, adjoining the beautiful city of Chandigarh. It is ideally placed for intellectual interaction with the several medical, scientific and technological centers. The Institute has a pleasing campus with fully equipped laboratories and instructional facilities and necessary housing provision. The mandate of the Institute is to create human resource of a high caliber to serve the academic institutes and the Indian pharmaceutical industry and the profession, undertake cutting edge research & development in the area of drugs & pharmaceutical and help the Indian pharma industry achieve its goal to become a global player.
Post: Director - NIPER, SAS Nagar
Qualification: The candidate for the post should be an eminent person in pharmaceutical sciences and of stature and proven merit. The candidate should be a Ph.D and should have worked as Professor or equivalent for at least ten years and should have published work in eminent journals. The candidate should be energetic and dynamic with a futuristic outlook, capable of attracting talent, commanding respect within the institute faculty as well as that of the Indian pharmaceutical industry, profession and international agencies. As head of the institute, the candidate should be able to provide overall direction and exercise administrative control over the faculty and staff. The age limit for the post is 55 years, relaxable in exceptional cases.
Appointment: The appointment is on contract for a period of five years in the first instance. The post carries a fixed basic salary of Rs. 80,000/- per month. Other perks and allowances as applicable to the Central Government employees will be in addition thereto. Residential accommodation will be provided.
