National Institute of Malaria Research (NIMR) was established in 1977 as 'Malaria Research Centre', which was renamed as 'National Institute of Malaria Research' in November 2005. NIMR is one of the institutes of the Indian Council of Medical Research (an autonomous body under Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India). The primary task of the Institute is to find short term as well as long term solutions to the problems of malaria through basic, applied and operational field research. The Institute also plays a key role in man power resource development through trainings/workshops and transfer of technology.
The following purely temporary positions are to be filled up in two ad-hoc projects for varying period on time to time extension. The posts are co-terminus with the project.
Project-1: Evidence based assessment of biophysical determinants of malaria in the northeastern states of India and development of framework for adaptation measures for malaria control under climate change scenarios.
Post: Research Scientist (One)
Essential Qualification: Masters degree in life/ Biological Sciences from a recognized university or equivalent.
OR
Second class Masters Degree in Life sciences/ Biological Sciences with Ph.D Degree from a recognized University.
Desirable Qualification:
- Ph.D degree with first class Masters Degree in relevant subject from a recognized University.
- Three years research/teaching experience in relevant field/ vector borne diseases
- Knowledge of computer applications and analytical skills.
Pay: Rs. 15600/-+ Grade pay 5400/- + HRA (Consolidated)
Age: 35 years
Post: Research Assistant (One)
Essential Qualification: 1st class Masters Degree in Life / Biological science from a recognized university or equivalent.
Desirable Qualification: Experience in vector borne diseases.
Pay: Rs. 21,140/- (Consolidated)
Age: 28 years
Note: At present the project is for a period of about two years. The incumbent for Research Assistant will be posted at Bhimtal (Nainital).

Project-2:Developing a framework for predicting malaria outbreaks in rural and urban areas of Gujarat and Rajasthan in India
1. Research Scientist (One)
Essential Qualification: 1st class Masters Degree in life Sciences/ Biological sciences/ Physical Sciences from a recognized University. OR
Second class Masters Degree in Life sciences/ Biological Sciences/ Physical Sciences with Ph.D Degree from a recognized University.
Desirable Qualification:
- Ph.D degree with first class Masters Degree in relevant subject from a recognized University.
- Three years research/teaching experience in relevant field/ vector borne diseases
- Experience in Mathematical Modeling.
Pay: Rs. 15600/-+ Grade pay 5400/- + HRA (Consolidated)
Age: 35 years
Note: At present the project is for about 5 months and likely to continue. If the suitable candidates are not available, the position may be down graded to Research assistant (@ Rs 21,140/- Consolidated).
