National Institute of Malaria Research (NIMR) was established in 1977 as 'Malaria Research Centre', which was renamed as 'National Institute of Malaria Research' in November 2005. NIMR is one of the institutes of the Indian Council of Medical Research (an autonomous body under Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India). The primary task of the Institute is to find short term as well as long term solutions to the problems of malaria through basic, applied and operational field research. The Institute also plays a key role in man power resource development through trainings/workshops and transfer of technology.
Following positions in two projects are to be filled up on purely temporary and contract basis, co-terminus with the projects
Post: Senior Research Fellow (SRF), Research Assistant
Project – 1 - Pilot gene discovery project: Characterization of Hemocyte specific Immune modulators from Indian malarial vector Anopheles stephensi
Senior Research Fellow (SRF) - One
Qualification: Postgraduate degree in any branch of Life Sciences with two years or more research experience in the field of Functional genomics/ Proteomics and bioinformatics. Preference would be given to the candidate having experience in vector borne diseases.
Salary: Rs. 18,000/-p.m. + HRA
Age: 35 years
Tenure: One Year (likely extendable)
Project – 2 - “Evidence based assessment of biophysical determinates of malaria in the northeastern states of India and development of framework for adaptation measures for malaria control under climate change scenarios”.
Research Assistant – Two (One post is for Delhi while another for Assam)
Salary: Rs.23,220/-p.m.
Qualification: M.Sc. in Life Sciences/Environmental Science/Geography/Geoinformatics
Age: 28 years
Tenure: up to March 2014
Age limit: Age relaxable for SC/ST/OBC candidates as per Govt. rules.
