The University of Calcutta was established by an Act of the Legislative Council (Act No II of 1857) of the then British India. A supplementary Act empowering the University to confer some additional degrees was passed in 1860. Another Act was passed in 1884 by which the University was authorised to confer honorary Degree of Law.The University Act of 1904 empowered the University to make necessary arrangements for the instruction of students, and though most of the teaching continued to be imparted in the affiliated colleges, teaching in some of the higher branches began to be organised under the University management.
One SRF / Research Associate required for the project entitled “Investigation of the role of three yellow stripe genes in cadmium and lead Accumulation in Brassica Juncea “ funded by the CSIR under the guidance of Dr. Anindita Seal, Department of Bio Technology, C.U.
Qualification required (i) for SRF – M.Sc. degree in any field of biological Science with at least two years research experience as evidenced by published papers / M.Tech. degree in any field of Biological Science.
(ii) For RA – Ph.D. degree in any field of biological science.
Upper age limit : 32 years for SRF and 35 years for RA ( relaxable upto 5years for woman / SC / ST Candidates)
Fellowship – As per sanction of the CSIR and also as per norms of C.U.

Candidates are required to bring ( i ) two sets of complete application furnishing bio data on plain paper with attested copies of testimonials and (ii) all originals at the time of interview.
No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
